Bringing the sport into disrepute is what I would be going for...but yes, I do concede that I was typing without really thinking and reflecting on what i was typing...

Spot on.

Media report on this case had honed in on his original defence angle of being an " ASPIRING/WANNABE V8 SUPERCAR DRIVER"

From the original newspaper report:
Tancredi's defence team told the court he was a man of good character who ran his family's concreting business and was engaged to an accountant. They said he was well known and respected in motor racing circles as having the potential to become a V8 Supercar driver.

If that sort of negative publicity doesn't potentially bring the sport into dis-repute, I struggle to think of what does.


Oh, hang on, a drug conviction.......

Now I don't think CAMS should rub him out for life, or anything stupid like that, but a 12 month suspension of his competition licence AFTER he is released might be an appropriate penalty, and show that the sport ( like the community) won't tolerate that sort of behaviour.

(I'd love to see the V8 Chumpionship decided @ Winton, thus making the El Grande Finale the flop it deserves to be...)
