It’s actually a concrete statement -- the same events on FS1 this year had on average 8 percent more viewers as compared to those same events on FS1 last year.

Well Rolex certainly seems pleased:

Quote:
CEO Ed Bennett: Rolex extends partnership w/ Daytona, Sebring for 10 years, TUDOR extends its partnership w/ IMSA for 10 years.
That’s as official timepiece. The series will be called the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship as of Nov. 1.

Sure, but it has no context if you don't give actual numbers.

Say you have 10,000 fans. You have only gained 800. Gimme actual numbers!!!!

I do medical research. Stuff like this is the bane of my scientific life.

FLGTFAN has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
The WTSCC. Could also be the Wayne Taylor SportsCar Championship.

Tequila Patrón has another year on their deal. The IMSA schedule press release still calls it the Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup. And there’s also the “Tequila Patrón Sports Car Showcase at Long Beach.”

Glad they finally ditch United in their title. It just didn't feel right in there. Didn't role off the tongue right

Here's the odd thing about the new schedule: PC (not VIR), GTLM (not Detroit), and GTD (not Long Beach) all are at 11 of the 12 dates while P is at only 10 (not Lime Rock or VIR). What’s up with that? And why only two classes at VIR?

You would think they can beat the LMPC cars for overall victory there. Still LMPC running 11 races?? Seriously.

The GT only race at VIR was a massive hit last year.

One would think they would be giving the DP teams as much time as possible to run those heaps of crap one last season.

Still, 10 for P and 11 for the rest is strange, especially when the two pro-am classes are running more than the pro classes.

They're just anticipating the break-away series once the dopey 2017 P2 rules are the only option.

Should WeatherTech be seen as an upgrade from Tudor? Not exactly a tiny company, but compared to Rolex and its prestige?

Shame in a way though that I think "Tudor" was just starting to become known and then the name changes. What comes abbreviations, it is about to become just more confusing as there's always been so many variations... TUSC, TUSCC, USCC, USC, USCR... now it might be WTSC or WTSSC.

Besides "United" finally getting dropped looks like "IMSA" is being brought back more visibly. A way better name.

Yes, IMSA sees it as an upgrade. Per S365:

Quote:
IMSA COO Scott Atherton confirmed that TUDOR’s departure as title sponsor came earlier than its original multi-year agreement. “There was a longer term that was here,” Atherton told Sportscar365. “This is an opportunity that came to us that we were able to orchestrate a very complex process that resulted in our ability to make this announcement tonight.”
Note that the the end-of-year prize fund is going up by 50 percent, presumably as a result of WeatherTech coming in.

Or if the name is now seen as "IMSA <sponsor> Sportscar Championship"... IS(C)C

I don't think there ever was an official abbreviation, besides the website domain, now that "IMSA" is in the logo too they should start officially using it more. The abbreviation can't change every 3rd year...
