They didn't win all the races, which in itself is a good thing but Castroneves lead the championship for most of the season and was eventually runner up. while Dixon and Ganassi won the driver's and teams's championships respectively. It was an excellent performance from Pagenaud and Schmidt and I hope they can continue to excel now they've lost HP as their sponsor.

Some statistics:

The Ganassi team won 5 races, Andretti 5 and Penske 4. That's 14 out of 19. The other team winners were Schmidt (2), Foyt, KV and Dale Coyne (1 each).

Ganassi took 1st, 9th and 10th in the final standings. Penske took 2nd and 4th. Andretti took 5th, 7th, 8th and 15th. That's 8 out of the top 10. The other teams took 3rd (Schmidt), 6th (Dale Coyne), 11th and 13th (KV), 12th (Dragon) and 14th (Fisher).

10 drivers got at least a win. 5 won multiple times: Dixon (4), Power, Hinchcliffe (3), Pagenaud and Hunter-Reay (2).

20 drivers got at least a podium, 14 at least two and 10 at least three. The top drivers were Dixon and Hunter-Reay with 6, and Castroneves with 5.

Except for the Indianapolis 500, the driver with highest earnings for top 5s was Dixon ($ 240,000).

Thanks NaBUru nice Stats to read!

If I follow the numbers, we can say that out of the TOP3 teams only SamSchmidt and Simon are multiple winners. An almost TopTeam (except for the budget) with a future regular top driver...

Schmidt seems to be losing its major sponsor for next season, will that mean they will need to hire a "pay drive" instead of Simon? (and get back in the pack of "good but average" teams?)
Are the TOP3 teams going to regret anything if Simon find itself without a drive in the coming weeks? That would be a waste...

Stastistics demonstrate that there wasn't a Ganassi/Penske domination...more than 25% of the races had not won by Ganassi/Penske, or Andretti...later, it's obvious that the championship was a battle between them...they are the most rich teams, with more cars, with almost all the best drivers...but with series have more uncertainty than IndyCar?
