Alexander or Sandy Grau??

I recently ran into someone referring to Alexander Grau as "Sandy" Grau. Is Sandy his nickname? Over here in North America, Sandy is a girl's name?

FYI, I am referring to the Grau that raced in the DTM. So where is he or she nowadays?

Speaking of females, are there any other females that raced in touring cars who also have a 1/43 scale model? I've already acquired a Paula Cook BTCC Honda Accord, a STW Tamara Vidali Audi A4. Meanwhile, I'm trying to find a cheap Ellen Lohr MB C-Class. Too bad Minichamps/Onyx never made any BTCC Mazda Xedos models.

Sandy is short for Alexander. He had been racing a Lotus GT-1 in 1997. I don't know beyond that.

I have the Ellen Lohr M-B that she won Hockenheim in and Sandy Grau's Warsteiner car as well. They aren't for sale!!

kmchow, just a question...what do you do all day over in Vancouver? Sit around and collect touring car models or something? It just seems like you're constantly on all of the message boards and stuff...but who could blame you for being obsessed with touring cars? Hehe.

I think Alexander Grau was universally known as "Sandy" in his early days - it was during the 1996 DTM/ITC season (when his disappointing form meant he was "demoted" from the AMG to the Persson Mercedes team mid-season, with Bernd Maylander being promoted) that he asked to be known as Alexander in future (similar to Geoff Bodine becoming Geoffrey?)

As for 1/43 models of cars driven by female Touring Car racers, Ellen Lohr C-Class (and 190) models still seem to be in plentiful supply in the UK, and no doubt more so in Europe. Lurking in my DTM collection is also an early Minichamps M3 (1991?) with Annette Meeuvissen's name on; I would imagine that one's fairly rare by now.

Well Tim Harvey Fan, I'm working right now as an Accounting Clerk over here in Vancouver. The work has slowed considerably these past 2 months so I have the luxury of sitting at my work desk, and visiting this forum every once in a while. So no, I'm not slacking off b/c there's no work to slack off from!

What? This isn't a Nascar forum? You mean I've been in the wrong forum for the last 2 years and didn't even know it??? I knew I should have made a left, instead of a right, at the last weblink!

Sandy Grau is a friend of mine, I lived in Austria for seven year and got to know him through the model flying club. Nice Guy.
