Friday 13th...
How much money does Ryan Briscoe got?
Has Chip Ganassi gone totally insane? Will Indycar EVER be fixed? Find out in 2014 (and probably many years afterwards if ever for that last point...) |

Wouldn't have thought Briscoe had any dollars to buy a ride, unless the wife is wealthy...

Briscoe seems a pretty good choice to me. No reason to think Chip Ganassi has gone insane.

Briscoe has been hugely uninspiring recently, having played a minor role in Penske's recent dominance (until 2013). In 2013 he was nobody in a nowhere car, but even so Oriol Servia could do a lot more, and Servia isn't exactly special.
I would've chosen di Resta. Yes, he wouldn't be amazing on the ovals, but he could adapt (and Ganassi are great with their oval set-ups anyway), and of course he would win most road course races, which now make up the entire calendar! |

It's the wise choice, it may not be the glam choice to wow the fans but it's the wisest choice. Gives Ganassi room to pick up one of those French hotshots for '15 meanwhile he has Dixon to lead the way for '14.
He could of made a more adventurous choice that would've drawn greater headlines but all the others where more speculative and/or would require time to 'train'. Now he has a steady Briscoe with the 'option' to pick, say, an Indycar-sharp and proven Tristan Vautier for 15. |

Servia, Tagliani - how many Races have they won in the last 15 years between them? Don't think they are gonna start winning now... Briscoe is a better choice than them
Saying that, perfect opportunity for Ganassi to support the ladder system by plucking an Indy Lights rookie, missed the boat on that one... |

Why do you say that?
There is no point to Lights being a ladder series if the current champion or top 2 or 3 from that series are regarded as "rookies who will crash costing $$$"... |

Ganassi owes nothing to Indy-Lights, he has own team to look after. Why not allow an IndyLights graduate to learn the ropes in some mid field team where Ganassi doesn't have to pick up the tab of the inevitable accidents and then pluck him out of that mid field team when he learns the car. That's smart, it saves money, the best still wind up at his door and he's got the luxury to do that, given that his team is the envy of the category.

Well, Karam looks pretty exciting to me. If he can get a decent 2014 ride he could well replace Briscoe for 2015...
