Yes it was so funny, I did a huge double take at the time! Nice to know everyone is human and not the worst thing ever said.

I've just played it to Mrs MM and she's wiping the tears from her eyes.

Grant bought up the very 'non historic' subject of racing autonomous cars a while back. Anyone interested, type roborace into your favourite search engine.

I only noticed because it's on Autosport's website alongside today's F1 test gossip and news......

Yeah, heard that (the Beeb boob) as I was driving down to the Doctor's for a blood pressure check. I blame the laughter for causing my slightly elevated readings!

She did correct herself quickly, though, and managed to avoid the same trap a little later in the bulletin

Anyone into old hairyplanes, 2100hrs tonite on PBS is first in new series of 'Plane Resurrection'. Harvard tonight, not my favourite- especially the prop noise......

Watching 'Cars that made Britain great' (has it been on before- one car had a 2016 plate?) made me curious about the locations where the 'talking heads' were filmed. Don't recognise some, but one was obvious from the dust sheets and fact that all cars had the same badge- the Ford Heritage Centre again!

Bob,
If you're after some exiting news then I hear that Silverstone have this week resurfaced the track from Maggots through to Becketts. Still chance to pop up there and watch it drying maybe.

At last! Life still exists out there in cyberspace, I was in fear of having to venture in to the Eff Wun section to see if anybody had survived what I assumed must have been a Nuclear Holocaust.

John, try walking a mile in my shoes, and you would soon have sore feet.

Gary that is certainly the most interesting thing I have read here this year, some of the 'conversations' between members who frequent this place are somnolence supreme. (I am not sure how to say that in French)

I see that Spandau Ballet will be performing at the Classic this year, I will have to Google that to find out if I want to go and listen, but it sounds unlikely.

President Trump has made a speech I see in the papers.

Apparently Bedfordshire Police are the worst performing force in the country, due to the amount of criminal activity in Luton. They have 'insufficient funding' to cope with the problem. I suppose when most of the populous speaks a foreign language it must he difficult to garner intelligence by phone taps, or humint.
Take a walk through the Arndale Mall and you genuinely wonder if you are still in England.

Jen dobri.

And Derby the last time I was there.

Even in our local CoOp at certain times of the day the majority of people seems to be from overseas. I suspect some contractors fitting out yet another mega warehouse type construction may be a significant factor for part of that observation.

I'll just be glad when we gat to the end of the month and 'certain members' (no names, no pack drill) reach their 'second quarter, time to change my socks whether they need it or not' point. It's all starting to smell a bit cheesy in here...

That's definitely the case all the time where I live... Oh yeah there's a reason for that, but plod does have to deal with 3 official languages before you even think about us immigrants.

Talking of plod, I realised I'm becoming ancient when my reaction to the pair that stopped me the other day was 'who gave these kids uniforms/are they old enough to be driving'.

Peter
p.s. I suspect you won't be impressed by the Spandau Ballet popular beat combo. You're probably not their target audience, a friend took his niece to one of their concerts when they were current and reckoned the crowd was almost entirely teenage girls!

Spandau Ballet? They were an '80s group, so can't imagine their audience now being entirely teenage girls....

And this is just for GP if he missed it-

Out of curiosity, are Belgian plods required to speak all three languages? Don't know if it is true but I have been told that they have to be able to speak English.

Not sure but you really need to speak more than 1 language to stack shelves in a supermarket so I assume plod have to speak at least 2 languages.

Unlikely that speaking English is a requirement (since it's not an official language) but many do - as do most the population in our (Flemish) region.

Of course talking about plod isn't simple either, there are both Federal and Local Police forces.

John,
I too have been clearing the clutter, and have a number of books to dispose of, some I am happy to give to a good cause, and some to sell. Maybe a few might be of interest to people here, but there does not appear to be a 'For Sale & Wanted' section on tenths.

I have tried Ebay but was put off by the cost, I sold a book for £120 and it cost over £16 in fees. So never again.

While not wanting to turn this in to an Exchange & Mart, I could send a list to anyone who might PM me.

The Menu from Fangio's 80th birthday bash at the Dorchester, signed by the Great Man himself, Moss, Brooks, Brabham, Cooper, Walker, et al has already been earmarked by my youngest.

I may be thinking of Dutch police, I know somebody has told me that it is a requirement with one of them. I usually find English is the safest language to use in Belgium - you either upset everybody or nobody! I'm off to Antwerp Classic show tomorrow where I will be the lone Brit with mostly Dutch, Belgians & a few Germans so no doubt it will be a multi-lingual conversation.

You're right about eBay Bob, it's not a good place to sell these days unless you're a big trader. The charges are excessive & totally geared in favour of the buyer. I haven't bothered for a long time - I once sold a book & they told me my postal charge was too much even though it was less than cost!

I want to have a bit of a clear-out of models but have to find an alternative way.

You need to be cute and sharp with ebay and watch for the special offers.
A couple of weeks ago there was 'no listing fee, and final value fees capped at £1' for IIRC 2 days. A bit before that we had 3 days of 'no listing fee and 50% off final value fees'.

John, you also might consider to "join" an exhibitor to the Salon Champenois Véhicules de collection, march 11/12 Reims.
Or reach Pierre at Tacot, he's a nice person and always proved to be very modern in his commercial approach. He does carry a second hand section on his website but I dont know how it works (i-e if he only sells his goods or sometimes buy from others).

It's very much like supermarket shopping nowadays- you have to grab the bargains when you can!
