Yeah doesn't seem to make a lot of sense.

I suspect the new GT deal will part-fund the VASC program, with some sort of backdoor support.

If only Volvo had a GT program...

Maybe they're playing this tune:

"I'll mow your lawn, if you pay me it'll be a good job. If you don't pay me it'll be as rough as guts and your lawn will look like poo."

Ah, then it would make perfect sense in that context

That's bound to make the other sponsors happy.

It doesn't actually say she'll be driving a Nissan does it?
I may have mis-read, but the only definite Nissan connection is for later this season?

Either way, big news!

Agree with Hawkwood, no team announcement yet apart from bathurst

how weird to sign a driver to a 3 year contract and yet its not a team announcement.

Might be the saving grace fro Erebus or LDM or maybe even GRM

So are VASC funding part of this deal themselves?

Cynically, is this a part effort to try and keep Nissan in the fold?

There was announcement earlier in the year that they would fund a female driver

I'm not too comfortable with it myself. I'm glad she'll be racing here, she's the real deal, making an announcement without a team is strange.

Of those three teams only GRM would be worth driving for. Why waste her talents with the other two who seem to be just making up the numbers (Percats win at Clipsal aside).

I hope she ends up at GRM or Nissan. Give her some good equipment and we'll see her true potential.

I guess you mean the team that is playing chicken with its manufacturer and could have no car for next year?

Kelly's might end up with no bucks from Nissan but there is only one team facing a demand for the cars and engines to be sent overseas.

De Silvestro signs three-year Supercars deal

Although it is expected that the 28-year-old Swiss will continue with Nissan in 2017, the Supercars statement does not confirm a team for her full-time contract.

Its a good thing for the sport to bring Ms De Silvestro into the fold.

That VASC may be partially funding this isn't really the point, creating the diversity and interest from a marketing perspective from having a competitive female racer in the series should be a real boost to the profile of the category in places it wants to go with the marketing.

Diversity rocks!

I truly look forward to the day when we see her first VASC win (hopefully, depending on team choice)

It will make news around the WORLD!

It is always dependent on the quality of the seat they land their bums in.
Not just the car quality, but the support system around that, from teammate(s), technical bods, development path, budget etc..
