Very sad. Porsche owes him a lot.

Retiring seems like a strong word. He's doing the exact thing, just somewhere else.
Article says he's quitting wec whether Porsche is or not, but manthey leaving isn't exactly a good sign I would think. |

From what a friend told me, Hindhaugh more or less let this slip during the race broadcast, albeit unintentionally.
On the surface it doesn't look good for Porsche, especially because he will still run in VLN. It will be a shame not to see him outside of Germany though. |

Was he doing anything outside VLN/N24 prior the IGTO season 2012 anyway?
This is as much as retirement as it is for F1 driver to switch to WEC... |

This a highly accurate statement. He's just leaving the WEC because Porsche is in GTE. Manthey is like Penske, he doesn't spend his own dime to race. This is such a non-story.

Guess if he still has some old 997 or 991 GT2 Porsches in his Ring fleet, he could enter private Manthey car for the Nurburgring 6 Hours on annual basis. Would mean at least some oneoff entries for the event. But I don't think he bothers, didn't really for the old 1000km either IIRC
