Jared should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I printed up an entry list from a rallying website for a WRC race earlier this year. On it, they had under "Group Class" the markings A8, A7, A6, A5, N4, N3, N2 and N1. What do these classes mean? I noticed that the top factory teams were under the A8 classification. What are the rest for
Also, they had "FIA Seeding", 1 for the top teams, 2 for a few of the A8's and N4's and no marks for the rest. What is this?

And one more thing: Is there any news of a WRC round being held in the U.S.A.? I read somewhere that there were rumors of that, but nothing since.

And another thing: How many rally fans do we have, and who's your favorite driver or team/car? Thanks.

I am a rally fan.

The classes are basically a way of separating the group A and group N cars a little more. I'm not sure of the exact way they do it, but I'd say it is related to whether it is a full spec WRCar or a privateer type one, etc.

N1 or A1 is up to 1300cc 2WD
N2 or A2 is 1301-1600cc 2WD
N3 or A3 is 1601-2000cc 2WD
N4 or A4 is over 2000cc 2WD
N5 or A5 is 4WD

Hope this helps. I like the Subaru WRX and I'm a big fan of Colin McRae and Possum Bourne. I also love Datsuns.

The FIA Seedings works as a ranking amongst the drivers. In this case, the drivers with the "1" are the drivers with better results in international rally events or championships -something like the superlicense of the F1 drivers-, the drivers with the "2" are those of "second class", while the driver without marks are those who haven't results in international rallying.

Jared: I think http://www.fia.com has a lot information for you. All I remember of classes is that A8 means WRC or 4WD group A.

As a Finn, I'm of course a big WRC fan, and cheering for all Finnish drivers. At the end of last year I was maybe one of the few that believed for Grönholm and Peugeot.
