Monaco's one of my favourites on the calendar, always has been. I'll hope for the best.

Say what you will about Mercedes, consistent qualifying speed has to be a good way towards fielding a top car eventually, no?

The Toyota's were always good in qualifying. In many ways, the Merc's are the new Toyota's. I wonder how far into the race they'll get on those terribly crumbly super-soft tyres. 5 laps? 10 laps? Those tyres are absolutely guaranteed not to do 20 laps, aren't they?

No contest. I have confidence in the team though. Doubt Lewis is quite to terms with the car yet neither, evidenced say by Nico consistently faster over a single lap. But that's a whole 'nother thread.

If the 2 Mercs get off the line and have tyre problems looming the second car should be able to back up the field so the leader gets a free stop.

That's if they want to play dirty.

Toyota had only one pole position with the 'new regs'. Mercedes has 4 in a row. I wish Toyota had Hamilton and Rosberg. I'd say they are quite a bit better than Trulli and Glock.

The article says that Mercedes covered 1000km thats 3 GP's worth of running dedicated to tyre tests. I bet the rest of the paddock will be up in arms about that. I wonder what else they managed to test as well, how many new parts were tried.
Williams and McLaren also have serious problems I wonder can they get an extra 1000km of tests?

They just used the regs to the limit something Ross Brawn is pretty good at but is it a trojan horse?

Totally fair... Imagine if RBR was given the test instead of Mercedes, the internet would have imploded already
Apparently they tested various tyres, the new ones that Pirelli will introduce in Canada and next year's compound too : BBC

Massa will need to eat an extra helping of Wheaties this morning. That man has a big job ahead of him . He will be putting on a "How to pass at Monaco" instruction class today. Top 8 or 7 would be a good goal for him.

Apparently Paul Hembery has revealed that Ferrari (who are one of the teams complaining about this) also had a test post Bahrain GP that no one knew about????

They didn't do the tests with a car that was old enough to do the tests with. Bad move. Nor does it matter who did the tests. Mercedes, Ferrari, Lotus, Renault etc, could have done the tests together. It's still not within the regulations to test current F1 tyres on current F1 cars.
