John Smith should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Formula Ford Duratec 2006 silly season

Hi all,

Ford are now putting their full might behind this exciting new series.

Who are the runners and riders?

I had a long chat with my old friend Bert Ray, he has sold one car to Peter Dempsey. Spirit, Van Diemen and Mygale all had cars on show but no drivers!

Several from FF1600 (assuming everything works out) - Peter Dempsey and Andy Meyrick at CDR, Richard Tannahill, David Mayes at Avenues, and Nathan Freke at Jamun - but I'm sure you knew that.

Has anyone heard any rumours of Daniel Roos racing in the uk series this year?

He stated at the end of the season that he was aiming to race in the UK in 2006. Don't know if he was going to continue with Formula Fords or had anything else in mind. I've never got to see him race last year but looking at the results he seems to have some talent.

Tannahill is racing for Avenues? Seems a odd pick of team?

There is a comma between Richard Tannahill and David Mayes. Maybe a semi-colon would have been better.

Van Diemen RF06 - didn't think he'd signed just that he was going to test and that JLR would have first refusal on his services?

Would be a major bonus for the series to have a driver of his calibre - especially with him switching from the 'rival' series!

Hope the interest in UK FF lives up to the current hype when the season starts. Interesting to read in 'Autosport' that Sam Roach from Racing line says, quote "This is the best interest we've ever seen in Formula Ford at this time of year"
Hope he means from 'Racing Line's' period of involvement as those of us who remember the 70s/80s glory days will recall at least 100 FF cars ready to go by now, with firms such as Van Diemen, Royale, Reynard etc flat out to meet new car orders!
