Will there be a TOCA Race Driver 4?

does anybody know if there'll be a TOCA race driver 4 because various sites has said that it's being developed but codemasters hasn't mentioned anything about it like they did for the others. anyone know any more information about it

if codemasters are involved, i sincerely hope not. RD3, when compared to others, was diabolical

With the abundance of open-source, multi-purpose racing sims on the market right now, I doubt that another TOCA Race Driver game would be relevant, at least within the PC racing community.

Too many actually good racing games on the horizon for another of those awful Race Driver rpg arcadey things - hated them...

race driver wasn't that bad, was it? but with Forza 2, GTR2 and RACE all coming to consoles, we may not see one for a while

Well I'm hoping for a "Race Driver 4" or equivallent to come from Codies as I've been running an online league with RD's 2 & 3 for some time now and could do with something to get a PS3 for.
I got lucky last year and was invited to a Codemasters forum day last year (much like the one I've just posted in the Dirt thread here) a week before RD3 was realeased and already there was talk of RD4 and it's capabilities back then. Hopefully the talk has turned to something more by now but there's no hurry I can wait for PS3 to come down in price first.

Maybe in the PC fraternity but I'm afraid you're very wrong when it comes to console racing. With Pro Sim handling, gravel traps and damage turned on ToCA Race Driver 3 is still the best Racing game available on console. That will change I'm sure when GTR finally makes it to XBox but right now there's nothing in the next gen of consoles that can compare. All of our members in UKOG who went out and bought PS3's straight away have all come back to their PS2's and TRD3 for their racing kicks for now as there's nothing currently available that comes close. The only thing really letting TRD3 down is the limit of online players to 8 (I know it's 12 on PC & XBox) but with next gen that should change.

the pro-sim was a good feature and helped the game a lot. so hopefully these features will boost the next game

I've never really tried pro-sim much but ill give it a go, should make it more realistic.

It does. The game's pointless to me without ProSim and I suspect most of the people who post, putting this great game down haven't actually tried this feature. Sim's ok to get people interested in racing (We all had to start somewhere) and then the progression to prosim is like having a whole new game to play. Another good feature is you can play offline splitscreen multiplayer with your screen on ProSim and your opponents on Sim. Which is awesome for getting new players interested in the game as going straight onto Pro Sim would put most people off.

being completely honest i dont want to see another toca race driver game, since toca world touring cars the games have gone downhill drastically and TRD3 was bloody awful.

codies should just stop with their racing games and consider something else because they really are that bad now, hopefully colin mcrae DIRT is going to be a welcome improvement, or are they going to cock that up as well.

Pro-sim on or off, it is crap.

I yearn for the old PS1 outings! If Codemasters can get back to those basics, all will be well with the world.

Absolutely, i still enjoy a good thrash on ToCA 2, just for old times sake.
The racing is excellent; 3 wide down the Craner Curves, anyone?

I hope to god Codies don't make a BTCC sim - the ISI engine is not great but a lot better than whatever CM use ...

Nowadays, a BTCC sim (on XB360, PS3 and PC) would be a great idea, even with the ISI physics...

a BTCC one would be great. or how about one where there's loads of touring car series combined into one game but codies don't publish it.

What about the Italian championship and some other S2000 ones? It would be easier for a games maker cos they could just nick the models ...

Superstars is a silhouette series that has V8 Jags, Audis and various other things. Italian Supertourismo is S2000 cars IIRC.

Mainly a BTCC sim would float my boat. Licencing would probably stop it, but the option to be able to choose a car and to paint it up would be a bit of fun
