Cheese Does Supercars As A Series Exist If There Are No Fords On The Grid?

A debate for a different thread, but do Supercars exist when Ford leave? Would it matter? Or would it change the series forever?

Ford left a couple of years ago. Is it sustainable for teams alone to develop a car at their own cost, on th basis of on selling parts? I suspect 888 is the only one with desirable enough cars.

All the people who've said they'd never watch another race again, for all the various reasons, will still be watching it.

With an SBR-Erebus front end in an Erebus VF & ZB, you might just think its kinda working for them... although it took kinda forever to do it.

You do have to wonder what an E63 might have been like with an SBR Ford engine aboard. Might not have been top grade on grunt, but the throttle response, the torque curve would probably be better..

You want Fords on the grid?

Don't think TCR is the way forward but it definitely ticks the manufacturer box

peckstar has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
i am confident my interest diminishes and my desire to spend money to attend reduces greatly.

I went to newcastle last year because Ford were in the hunt for the championship, i would not have gone if they weren't. 100% clear on this

Would not cross the road or flick the switch on the TV to watch a one make Holden series.
(not biased, own one Holden and two Fords)

Interesting replies, uncomfortable replies for Supercars if they somehow dont have a Blue Oval product on the grid in 2020.

For those who'd walk away if there were no Fords/Falcons on the grid, what will you watch instead?

I honestly don't know, I still live in hope that it won't come to that.
I just know that I'm not interested in a Commodore cup.

Grew up in a Ford family, have owned multiple Falcons, always cheered for DJR and SBR, never really liked Commodores, HRT, Skaife, Murphy, Tander, the Kelly's etc...

But of course I'll still watch. Sure I'd be disappointed but the race will go on and the race is the most important part to me.

It would hurt the sport for sure, whether that would lead to the end of it I guess would depend on sponsor interest. Personally I watch it because I enjoy quality motor racing and not because of the badge on a spaceframe.

Oh Lord, finally someone that can see it for what it is, and doesn't look through rose-tinted lenses thinking the Falcodore on their driveway is the very same as the one that just won Bathurst / Sandown / the Championship.

I think we are all well aware of that. Well most grown ups are.

But for ford fans thats the team we barrack for. Ford! We lose our team we lose interest and something else grabs our interest

Is your interest in the journey or the destination? What's more important, the result or the race?

Which do you enjoy more - a Ford driver coming second in an intense and exciting race, or winning by a large margin because all the competitors broke down or stuffed up in the pits?
