My vote goes to Monteiro. Despite everything he still took the chance to celebrate his moment on the podium, yes I know it wasn't a "true" position but at least he got to spray the champagne.

I don't believe we should even crown one. Noone did anything but just rolling the car home.

For me the driver of the farce (you misspelled it) was Monteiro, for beating both Minardis and his team mate. Sad for him how the podium ceremony went.

The guy interviewed on ITV who'd driven nine and a half hours from Washington.
Showed a dedication an commitment to the sport sadly lacking in others.

You did see the near clash after MS' pitstop didn't you??? It may not have been the whole race, but the cars were racing out there even if the sting had been taken out.

Has to be Monteiro - They may not have been pushing too hard but he was a lot quicker than any of the other non-Ferraris... the others just didn't seem to have it under control as much.

D.R.T - it's like Nicola Larini in the '94 San Marino GP all over again - got the result of his life in a Ferrari, of all cars, but couldn't celebrate because F1 had just then lost Senna and Ratzenberger in one weekend...

I wonder what the reaction would have been like if Ten-Tenths had existed back then...

The race was a farce, but the best driver at Indy was Monteiro, followed by Albers and Friesacher (because both Minardi drivers took care of their cars and finished the race).

The tv stations will have to prepare for much longer press conferences if Monteiro is ever going to be a regular on the podium.... He talked more than Kimi and Nick together.. ever

Difference really is that was a solid and well earned result for Larini in a pack of competitive cars.

My driver of the race would have to be Trulli. He drove a cracking parade lap. Wish I could find out how much fuel he actually had.

Has to be Monteiro. The Ferraris weren't racing anyone else other than themselves. Tiago had to race other cars (albeit Minardis). Plus he got the better of his team mate and appeared to be the only driver of "the other 4" that was not ragged and locking wheels.

Michael comes in second for reeling in Rubens after that slow pitstop.

It's a minor issue in a day of utter nonsense, but is it any wonder Rubens gets ****ed off with Michael and the team when he has to back off after second stop but Michael is free to pass him on the final lap at monaco?

I hope Rubens gets a drive somewhere else soon and has a DC-esque renaissance. Ferrari treat him like a chump.

I commend all of the drivers who actually took part, doing their best to put on as much of a "show" for the fans as they possibly could under the circumstances. They knew they were being booed, and were even afraid of getting onto the podium.

I commend all of the drivers who didn't take part. These guys are racers, it's in their blood, and it must have been very discouraging for them to have to unseat themselves.

First thing I'd like to say is well done to Jordan and Minardi for getting all their cars to the finish. With Jordan and Minardi retirements it could have been even more of a farce....

Driver of the race would have to be Monteiro for winning the 'others' race.

Indeed, thats nothing against the drivers not permitted to race, but it was top shelf stuff of those that did, being the only ppl facing the very angry fans, while those responsible hid in the Michelin trailer.

Monteiro definitely.

Just the fact he beat his teammate by over 30secs and only got lapped on lap 71, that deserves kudos and the podium. Well done Tiago!
