lets face it the stcc has been an absolute disaster since the teams broke away and went to the silhouette cars instead of going btcc regs.
but at the same time the btcc has gone through the roof with its new regs. well done 'flash'. you killed the stcc and even pulled out your own team from the series!! |

I think the main problem with the current solution-f stcc, is that it's compared to things like the wtcc and the btcc, whereas the cars make it more like something like dtm. If it was seen more as a dtm feeder series, or something like that, i think it would have been far more successful and perhaps would have been more popular outside of Scandinavia

Does it need to be popular outside Scandinavia though? After all it is the STCC. I think the problem is generally that the split with STCC and TTA was all a bit messy and the series hasn't fully recovered from that yet. Maybe the cars were the wrong way to go and the NGTC route would have served them better after all. Interesting to see Polestar venturing back out in the WTCC - maybe they've had enough of the STCC?

Johan Kristofferson will race a KMS VW Polo in rallycross (support class of STCC). So no KMS in STCC.

For sure it would help. But they should start to try and make it more popular in the other scandinavian coutries other then Sweden first. Problem is, the Swedish teams dont want to go to Danmark and Norway to race, they rather stay in sweden cause its closer to home and most of their sponsors are not interested in advertising outside Sweden. And same goes for Danish and Norwegian teams but the other way around. The switch from Swedish to Scandinavian serie, swallowing the DTC, came at the worst possible time, the DTC was dying and we have no presence of any Danish teams or drivers in the serie, and no-one looks to be interested. Henche why STCC no longer races in Danmark. They might as well change it back to Swedish Touring Car Championship.

neighboring countries series in Denmark and Finland Touringcar Championship are dead. slightly exciting that the STCC name is Scandinavian, not Sweden. A few times STCC has gone abroad, but perhaps they should hire a Finnish drivers, I've never wondered why there is not a full-time Finnish driver. Olli Haapalainen drive few STCC race few years ago.

Very quiet. Feels like STCC organisation is putting too much effort into the RallyCross thing and not working on trying to get the actual STCC working... Hopefully there is more going on then what the media is reporting

Rumour that there might be new bodyshells for Brovallen (could be from a Japanese car...) is the only thing I've heard that is of interest.

Volvo Polestar confirms there will be 5 drivers again this year, with the Prince as one of them. Dahlgren is confirmed to drive for Polestar in V8 Supercars so atleast one new driver will be added to what we can expect Björk, Ekblom and Ohlsson to stay with the team.
Some older news i that WCR is expected to return to 4 cars again. Göransson and Larsson is expected to continue while Rudholm has retired from professional racing. The other 2 drivers could be youngsters Erik Jonsson and Philip Forsman. |

Since Jonsson has raced two seasons in Porsches with only his name as a sponsor I guess he won't have any problems funding that drive, even if the results have been pretty meager. Is there a news article about five cars from Volvo? Wonder who they'd pick for that. Rosenqvist would have been a prime candidate but he did a bit too well for that this season.

Rosenqvist in STCC would be a waste for him at this stage in his career, but he would perform well. |

So we have something like this
Would really like to see KMS or NIKA in there, or Flash to return, there just doesnt seem to be the broad top like STCC is used to. Anyone heard anything about Flash Engineering, is it compleatly shut down? |

I think Flash is too busy helping children and getting fined for it. I don't know, I haven't read a thing about them since May last year. Hard to imagine you can afford to rent a shop and employ people when it's not bringing any money in. But hey, who knows.

They were cleaning the ice on a kindergarten ice rink with an ATV last week and he got fined for driving it on a public road. Was in the papers. Sounded really silly since he apparently drove just a couple of hundred of meters. But hey, if that's the only thing our law enforcement have to do day-to-day I guess that's thumbs up to us as a society It was kind of a funny story, though. I think he's the ambassador for some local town now.

Provisional calendar: http://www.touringcartimes.com/2013/...the-2014-stcc/
I guess its pending depending on how Östersund and Tierp turns out, both in financial troubles. Personally I'm hoping for Tierp on Aug 9th, then I'll be able to go there |

Former F3000 driver Jari Nurminen said that there could be driven for STCC main (TTA cars) class, but elsewhere Europe is unlikely to ever travel.

while the BTCC flourishes with big car numbers and now star drivers the STCC is the total opposite, well done lads with your infighting and ugly silhouette cars that general public isn't interested in

And it is hard for manufacturers to remain interested when it is a one-make series. At least BTCC / WTCC cars still resemble what they are representing.
