Well, um, it was exciting, but that overheating's a major issue and bits of this race looked quite dangerous.

Well, I enjoyed it a lot for the entertainment but the fact so many cars suffered from overheating detracted from the sporting contest. Buemi, Prost, Duval & Da Costa all drove well and deserved better I think.
I did think Di Grassi was a deserving winner however. He stayed in touch with Buemi and could have challenged him for the win even if his car hadn't broken. Punta del Este next. That was a great event last season so hopefully the temperatures will be a bit kinder. |

The long-rumoured Mexico City race has been announced. It will be run on 12 March around a modified Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez circuit, meaning yet again there will be a modified F1 circuit on the calendar.
And to correct/update a statistic I mentioned, Switzerland and Brazil tie for 1st on the all-time Formula E winners as nations, with Buemi's 4 wins vs 2 wins each for di Grassi and Piquet Jr (who doesn't look a likely bet to add to his tally this season) meaning it is 4 apiece. Sam Bird puts the UK into 3rd with 2 wins, ahead of France, Belgium and Portugal, sharing one win each. |

I think it will be a great venue, hopefully as well attended as the recent F1 race was. The circuit itself is not all that inspiring (the stadium section will be very slow) but I think they've done a good job with what they've got.

The only way fans will watch driverless cars is if they are armoured. Let the Death Race begin!

The current state of technology is scarily good but isn't that just the problem? It'll be a no contact, no crashing, no weaving, no blocking procession. A great advert for the car manufacturers, but no real spectacle for the sports fans. And as Agag admits, that's the whole point.
For anyone who hasn't seen how good some of these driverless cars are, have a look at this: http://news.stanford.edu/news/2012/a...ar-081312.html So overall I don't think it does any harm to showcase the technology, but I'm not expecting driverless racing to become the next big thing (famous last words). |

limit as to what kind of show you could put on. As long as they stay out of the stands when glitches happen at 150 mph, might be fun. |

Fascinating idea but without a human element the only unpredictable bit will be when a computer goes down and needs a re-boot! Yet more processional racing and I can see continued growth in historic racing😉 |

Money could be an issue, but only for long as they keep it spec series and not open it to car manufacturers wanting to advertise/showcase automatication (or possibly, ludicrous speeds if such thing was to be allowed). And even in initial spec format there could be some branding things going on, you know Intel vs AMD, or Red Bull vs whatever. Last edited by Deleted; 3 Dec 2015 at 15:16. |

and get on a regular season schedule. I have seen them do a few laps during an F1 weekend but they are not really competing. I guess most of the F1's are held in a museum some where. Be great to see some 12 cylinder's do an all out 30 minute sprint! |

Ah, I see, so each team will develop the AI for its car and each will therefore be different as teams try to combat the perceived weaknesses of their competitors.

Does anyone else think the Hockenheim short course could make a pretty good ePrix venue?

In the medium term it could be a great venue but not at the current level of performance. The cars would seem a little pedestrian. Of course, if they could fill the whole stadium section it would make for a raucous event but I don't think Formula E crowds are big enough to fill it yet.
I did see rumours of a Norisring round though, in case the Tempelhof Airport event falls through. Has anyone heard more about this? |

Battersea Park remains on the calendar, despite a last minute attempt to veto it by some council members.

I see that Trulli's withdrawn. Shame, I was looking forward to seeing what excuse they'd use this time.
