You're right, but like Chern said, it'll look weird because the wheelbase for the street car is tiny, but in GT500 it'll be streeetched Even the Mother Chassis GT86's wheelbase is long(er).

20 million yen is about $180K. That's an expensive engine, but how many per season do they use?

Race day press conference by Masaaki Bandoh (GTA) <Part.1> http://www.fmotor.jp/2018-sgt-rd5-gta-comments *About 2019 SGT schedule -We considered the start of the season in March, but eventually it became the same schedule as this year. -After the 7th round, we will hold a joint event with DTM in Germany, and after the 8th round we will hold a joint event in Japan. *About "joint event (name change from inter-race)" with DTM -Class 1 technical regulations will continue until 2030. -This will allow the race to be held in the medium to long term perspective, which will contribute to the team's sponsorship. -In 2019, we hold joint event by Class 1 regulations "plus alpha". Then in 2020, joint event will be held by complete Class 1 regulations. -We will send 15 GT500 cars to Germany, and DTM will send at least 12 DTM cars (AUDI and BMW) to Japan. -In the future, we would like to hold joint event for 2 events each in Europe, America, and Asia. -There is an inquiry from China about holding joint event. |

Race day press conference by GTA <Part.4>
https://supergt.net/news/single/18361 -In Class 1 tech regulations, we have agreed that ITR owns IP rights of standards parts in Europe, and we, GTA owns that IP rights in Asian countries, semi-permanently. -About joint event, we would like to hold two or three events from 2020, then after 2025, we would like to hold two joint events each in Europe, Asia, and America. So we would like to create an environment where joint events can be held during the season off of SGT and DTM. |

Pity. But you never know what worse luck your bad luck has saved you from. In GT300 I noticed the Hoppy 86 MC took multiple gambles on tyre strategy throughout the race. They could have won this without going wild. |

Joint events are economically different events from SGT/DTM series.
Joint events will be promoted by ITR and GTA themselves. Bandoh says that GTA will cover all team's traveling costs to Germany and accommodation fees. |

Should be enough fan support if they advertise it. Sure the ITR will be best served to do so.

Details were not told.
Realistically speaking, it will be difficult to make a profit at only two joint events. Therefore, auto manufacturers will pay that cost principal as initial cost. GTA and ITR want to expand joint events (Europe*2, USA*2, Asia*2) at off seasons of SGT / DTM series. If this plan is successful, joint events might succeed as a business. |

Autosport magazine reports SGT engineer's round-table talk by Tsutomu Tojo (Tom's), Kotaro Tanaka (LeMans) and Takeshi Tsuchiya (Tsuchiya engineering).
-JAF-GT300MC is about 200kg lighter than FIA-GT3. But it generates only 470ps. (FIA-GT3: 600ps) -Although MC car can run quick if it runs alone, it is difficult to overtake FIA-GT3 cars in actual racing. However, Tsuchiya have been told that they are unfair from FIA-GT3 users. -They make a proposal that JAF-GT300 and MC should move to privateer class of JAF-GT500. -Asian teams (mainly outside of Japan) are very rich, so they could buy FIA-GT3 car. But customer team can not touch important parts of FIA-GT3 cars, so no experience is accumulated in Asian engineers and mechanics. Technically speaking, it is in the colonies of European manufacturers. |
