Go to Kirkistown on Sat and ask about. There are one or two guys racing who may sell a car. I know John Stewart was thinking of selling and that Reynard is a good car.

1983 Van Diemen FF1600 (with spare parts) for £5,000
1997 Jamun FF1600 for £7750

Can you give me any advice on these cars? As to which one you think is value for the money?

Thanks Triple J.

Also another Question.

Apart from the 1997 Jamun FF1600 at £7,750.

I have also been offer a 2001 Jamun T25 now it currently has a Ford Zetec Engine and is costing £6,000, but doesn't it need a Kent engine???

Also which one of these cars would be better.

Thanks
Alan

it also depends on wher you will race if yr in NI yr all in 1 class in england we have regional series some with pre 90 class
also classic Fford 1600 serie s for pre 82? cars
scotland has pre 95 class

83 VD was cockpit forward car not desirable unless you get a pre 85 class
lola 644 was a good car in its day
reynard 89 is possibly the best FFord for pre 90 racing or the wet but you will pay big$ for them
what is your budget?

My budget isn't that large as im only starting and i don't want to put alot of money into it. Im doing this as a fun hobby, i just want to get out on the track and race.

I would however like to get as a competitive car as i could possibly afford, and i have been told by other drivers that i wouldn't really need to spend anymore than £4,000 - £5,000.

I would be racing in Northern Ireland and i have heard that now Northern Ireland and Southern Ireland race together.

FFord is all about having a good chassis and a DAMN good motor for 5k u aint gunna get both as good motors are 2500-4k these days

IF u where in england i would say but classic ff1600 class car go race there
but for 5k u will get a reasonable car built between 1983 and 86
if u can find VD86/7 car that would be a good car to run but i think yr 5k budget will not get a nice car so you may have to buy something a little older or buy a nice car like lola 644 that can be run in a classic series/be easy to sell later

your next option will be to buy into a better car share the running prepping of car with someone who is also restricted on budget
better to do 6 races well than 10 with a poorer car?

Converting a FFZetec to Kent is out side of your budget

2001 Jamun Zetec would be a good car to run in SEMSEC, F4 and Mono1800 Matt Hayes goes very well in his.

Not sure what you can in, in Ireland though...

As Kevan said RF83 is too new for Classic FF need to be be Pre 82.

With the current ecconomic cliement for a little more (£8K -£9K) you should be able to find a Reynard or RF90. Better buy than a 1997 Jamun FF1600 at £7,750.

Rightho yeboyye, there is your car now on ebay. RF80 all fresh and ready to go. Perfect car for pre 82 class at Kirkistown and a competitive chassis in Classic FF across the water. AND ITS IN BELFAST! If you are serious this would be a good outfit as you would be able to measure your abilities properly in it, as opposed to buying some cheapo outfit that is never going to be any good. It all depends of course on your budget and what it goes for.

Hi there thanks for all the help, yep that Car on ebay seems ok but i think its a bit expensive for a pre 82 car. I was looking for something a little more up in the years and i would be interested in finding out more about the 89 reynard that is coming up for sale?
Any information would be great.
Thanks
Alan
