Honda goes 1-2-3 in qualifying. Let's see how they hold up in the race (unlike at the first round of the season). GT-Rs on Michelins seem to be struggling, on the other hand.

Rain is forecasted for the race. That might help the Michelin runners. I hope the Dunlop NSX shows speed.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHZaoVmn0F4 NISMO TV broadcast of today's race (subject to Geo restrictions).
Should be a good one - I actually quite like the Bridgestone/Dunlop teams to excel if it rains, and there's a very good chance it will. |

The countdown on nismo tv is incorrect as the race is just over four hours away not the nine it says. Really looking forward to this so I've arranged my weekend around this race |

Sunday press conference by Masaaki Bandoh (GTA)
http://www.fmotor.jp/2017-sgt-rd4-gta http://car.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/1071987.html *About GT500 BoP About the performance adjustment of NSX, I think that the aiming equilibrium has been realized fundamentally. Other manufacturers have not criticized this adjustment officially. The result of Honda is not by weight reduction but by HRD Sakura's efforts. *About GT300 BoP Regarding BoP of Prius, development of their engine has already been completed, so we extended the air restrictor size and increased the weight. *About the speed difference between GT 500 and GT 300 is decreasing If FIA-GT3 gets faster any more, it will be necessary to review the rules. We would like to control the speed with securing safety. *About 2018 calendar Suzuka 1000 km substitute race will be 300 km, which will be held in the first half of the season. Instead, the race distance of August's Fuji round will be extended. We will hold SGT in Thailand also next year. It's a one-year contract. The schedule will be around the old Sepang round (June). |

One hour until the start of the race and the rain has stopped - in fact, it may go dry some time before the end of the race!

Whoever gambled with slicks chose poorly. Watching the GT300 field pass the Nissan GT500 on slicks was something you don't see everyday

That was a crazy finish, nearly looked like S Road snatched it when the Denso car went off road but no.
Great to see The Beard(less) and Hiranaka win GT300, it hasn't been the best season for far for them. Why does Mr Orange Jacket need two bouncers/minders? |

Well, that Denso LC500 just drifted its way to victory over the S-Road GT-R! Meanwhile, it's sucks that Hatsune Miku AMG didn't get a podium finish in the GT300 class. Still, it's a great race in Sugo!
@Japanese Samurai Why 300km though, would it be better if Suzuka held a 500km race? Also, will that replacement race only feature GT500 cars? |

Great race but it was disappointing to see the closed pits change the outcome (especially as a Raybrig fan). Closed pits ruin races (happens all too often in Indycar), I hope they revert back to the old rules.

Still, would it be better if the Suzuka race is 500km? Also, GTA needs to scrap the Fuji 300km if they want to have another overseas race. |

Some complains today's race judgement.
However, according to Tatsuya Kataoka (#4) tweet, Kunimitsu Takahashi (team owner of Raybrig) said after the race that this kind of thing happens, so SGT is very interesting. Kuni-san has a big-heart. https://twitter.com/TK_KATAOKA/statu...85260322947073 |

That was a hectic race! Amazed to see the Denso take the victory. That rain came in a hurry and sent both it and the S-Road to the grass. A pass was almost on, but not quite.

So I figure that's either about the end of Class 1, or the motivation for ADAC to get serious about getting along with the Japanese manufacturers. |

I think ITR may be a little more desperate to get another manufacturer into their series. If they adopt the Super GT rules, I bet one of the Japanese 3 may be inclined to help with a car/team.

So, GT500 still use Class 1 rules or GTA already ditch the regulation?
I forget but GT500 right now use Class rules or something right? |

As much as Mercedes bowing out of DTM, ITR needs to work out the Class One deal since they started this mess in the first place. They can't fail this in front of their Japanese counterparts.
