Well I guess De Vries isn't bad, but Cecotto again? |

Interestingly the Wikipedia page has been updated with the recent movements - but also lists Palou in the second Campos and two Hilmer entries for Richie Stanaway and Meindurt van Buuren.
Accurate or someone up to mischief with the edit button? |

Of the rest, I'm not sure about Boschung at Campos (sure, he was OK in GP3, but I think he'd be found out against a higher level of opposition), but if they can get an experienced name like Merhi in the second seat - who I still rate highly - then it might help him get to grips with the car quicker De Vries is a decent addition as well for Rapax, but I've never been Cecotto's biggest fan, and I think it's a bit of a waste of a seat that could go to someone with a bit more potential Hopefully Hilmer do get out, but as for who drives for them I don't know - Van Buuren and Bernstorff would be my best guess, but that's probably 100% wrong... |

I look forward to seeing Merhi in the series if it happens, he was unlucky in F1 with Manor, although his results did improve as time went on

Palou was testing with Threebond Tomei last week at Suzuka Circuit and he was quick, so seems likely he will be racing Japanese Formula 3 Championship , but maybe an extra programm can be added

I still think Merhi is a great driver. He did well in the F3, GP3, in the end well in the DTM (especially that race in the wet at Hockenheim) and no worse than Chilton in F1. He deserves a chance in the GP2, I think.
Van Buuren in the GP2 looks like a step too early for me. He wasted that weekend with MP Motorsport at Monza with stupid mistakes. Another year in a competitive car in the GP3 would be better, I think. But that only counts if Hilmer makes the grid at all, I certainly hope so. |

No sign of life from Hilmer.
Canamasas is testing with Trident alongside Jeffri: http://www.gpupdate.net/en/gp2-news/...or-f2-testing/ |

Merhi struggling a bit!
Rowland has declared war on the competition. He aims to 'dominate' the season. |

Pretty sure it was for previous champions or people that had done a full season in F1. Merhi himself said it might take a day or two to get up to speed, he did finish up 5th yesterday afternoon though. 😉

Merhi don't need it, honestly, if he struggl;es with budget requirements time to start talks with TCR teams. No point doing F2. Same with Cecotto, and Canamasas. Cecotto is a good pedaller, but enough is enough, time to move on. I think he is one of major favs of 2017, he is in great team, as Rapax is top team with right driver, but what would a title give him?! Canamasas, please, just move on....
Not surprised with Rapax speed, surprised with King's struggles. Going to be top season, where you do not know who's gonna come on top. |

Yeah it should be a good season with some new faces.
What are your predictions? I predict Leclerc might just come out on top, but he'll have stiff competition from Albon, Ghiotto, Rowland, Fuoco (in fact that's my final points order). Other guys like Markelov, De Vries, Malja, Deletraz, Matsushita could win races. I predict Merhi won't even manage a podium. Campos was too slow last year. Nato strong in testing but... it's an Arden. If Leclerc does end up the champ, that's consecutive gp3/gp2 titles - how could F1 turn him away (Haas 2018)? |

I have to agree, I think it could be wide open, you would have to say Prema, DAMS and ART are the obvious choices but I am far from convinced by Fuocco, Ghiotto will be there or there abouts, Cecotto will get a few podiums, possibly win one or two, as for Nato, it depends on how much Arden strengthened over the winter doesn't it, he could easily be top five overall though.

Ah, that's interesting, I had read they had got some new guys in but couldn't find who anywhere, Nato could well be a championship challenger then. 😉

On another note, Merhi has said he will find out in the next fortnight whether he has got the Campos drive or not, fingers crossed. 😊

According to Italiaracing Campos are going to run Raoul Hyman this week in Bahrain, i can only assume the funds didn't materialise for Merhi, that's a shame, neither Boschung or Hyman in a Campos car is going to be troubling the podium any time soon are they.

Hyman also tested in GP3 so I would assume nothing at this stage. For all we know they will end up signing Sirotkin.

Forgot about Sirotkin. Has he got no plans yet for 2017? Campos would be a bad move for Sirotkin or Mehri. Unless the team fixes whatever issues they were having in 2016, they'll continue to be backmarkers no matter who drives for them.
