Will be heading straight back from Norfolk to Eurotunnel on Monday and was wondering whether to take the M11 or the A12. |

I don’t think there is anything to recommend the A12! I can imagine it will have faired worse than the M11.....
Here’s a question for those based en France- what are the police escorted convoys of dark blue unmarked rigid trucks? Nuclear waste, gold, loads of €, or..... |

Some good answers there, but doubt any correct! Although Max could be right, of course....
It’s your lucky day when the matrix signs announce that due to a prang the Autoroute is closed and all traffic is being taken off at the next junction....... and it’s the one you were due to exit at anyway! |

Other end of France John.... It has to be serious for French to close an Autoroute.
Carrefour fuel here €1.389, so still cheap compared with €1.614 I spotted in a services! |

In fact we close any autoroute each time big dark blue trucks are in the neighborhood. Nobody knows why, its a kind of coutume But if we are sure it could put any english trucker in trouble, the autoroute is twice closed!!!!
And vice versa! |

I was travelling in the same direction as one of those convoys a year or two ago, and the ‘flic’ (is that correct term?) vans had great fun leapfrogging the convoy in turn, blocking the next slip road, waiting for it to pass, then catching up again! Some strange custom- definitely!

Anybody watching Cunk on Britain? Very clever TV. The experts do well to play along.

Water Weter . How does it work . I’ve had a bottle in the truck for donky years . Used it today and it brought temperature down by a good 10 degrees .

To continue from my previous post on this (sorry, I couldn't nresist a bit of Friday Flippancy!)...
If I remember from reading the 'buff' about that product about 25 years ago, it's supposed to alter the structure of the coolant to increase the thermal efficiency (for example, when compared to something like dry air, the treated water is effectively even wetter). this enables it to carry more heat away from the engine, and then tranfer more of that heat away from the coolant in the radiator. We certainly found that it worked well in a Group A RS500 in the heat of Malaysia! |

It lowers the surface tension of the water and makes a better connection between the coolant and the engine parts. I must admit it does work however don't leave it in there too long as it does corrode metal easier than plain water. Right I'm off down the local beach bar Just remembered something, I was at a oval circuit meeting years ago when I was racing Hot Rods and there was banger racing on at the same time, a bloke in an old Rover put a drop of Fairy Liquid in the rad that was actually leaking and I asked what he was up to, he said the engines don't get so hot ! Thinking about it, it probably did the same thing as soap does lower the surface tension and was a dammed sight cheaper !!! Last edited by GORDON STREETER; 20 Apr 2018 at 14:19. |
