Nick Kirby should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Simon Piercy

I have just received this from Alan Osgood Cheif Marshal at Gurston Down.

"Hi All

Just a brief note to let you know that Simon Piercy passed away at the weekend following a fairly short illness. Simon was Chief Marshal at Gurston Down in the early '90s and a BARC SW committee member. Also a regular fire marshal at Thruxton and Castle Combe during the 80s and 90s. He was one of the founder members of the G.i.ts and will be missed by his friends who still marshal. Condolences to his family and friends.

Regards
Alan Osgood"

Very sad news indeed, Simon will be missed by all that knew him.

OOPS! Sorry i'm a technophobe

Simon was an old school marshal, guaranteed banter all day until it went pear shaped and then he was the ultimate professional. If you were trackside dealing with an incident you could rest assured he was watching your back and ready to come to your aid if required. Always talking to anyone and everyone, willing to pass on advice to new marshals and first to take the mickey out of everyone else.

I know by the amount of phone calls and e-mails i've had that a lot of the older marshals are going to miss Simon and his infamous pink probans.

Another great character taken from us

My thoughts are with his wife and children

Rest in peace mate

Alan

Ps please contact me for the funeral details.
