There's quite a lot I can add but all my papers are in storage at the moment.

CTC 14E mostly raced by Graham Hill - sold by team Lotus to Brian Robinson. Car now owned by either Michael Schryver or Simon Hadfield???

CTC 24E raced by Jacky Icx for Team Lotus - sold (I believe) to Brian Robinson at same time as CTC 14E but then purchased by Ford who paid Alan Mann to race it pending arrival of the Escort Twin Cam. Sold by Alan Mann (not with an FVA engine - the theory is that all those engines were owned by Ford and only leased to the team) to a friend of mine - Ian Perrett - who used it for sprints - appeared in northern championship at Croft with a V6 raced by [?] - not sure what happened next but I believe Andy Middlehurst had it for a while and he replaced the firewall that had been chopped for the V6 - then went to a chap who spent a lot of time and money on it including the installation of a BDA engine - and then purchased again by Ian Perrett. He allowed me to take a load of photos and he told me that the bodyshell and most of the suspension components were as he remembered when he bought it from Alan Mann. I asked him about the windscreen wipers that point in different directions in Team Lotus days and he said that Alan Mann installed an aircraft wiper motor necessitating some cutting under the dash - he said this was the first thing he checked when he bought it for the second time. He used it for a few hillclimbs (driving to and from on the road....) and then sold it back to Alan Mann - perhaps the best indication of its provenance.

UVX 565E raced in Lotus colours originally (by Lucien Bianchi, amongst others) but was sprayed re and gold when raced by Alan Mann. Was sold to someone in Holland.

Thers was also a BTW 298B on a Mk 1 for Alan Mann.

Ctc 14e

Only just had a look at this thread,I thought that there might be some interest for you to know that CTC 14E was ,until recently ,owned by A Carter,a Norfolk farmer, whom I ran a restoration company for.The car was bought from Mr G Marshall esq, back in the early 80s,when we took delivery of the car ,it had been brush painted in Maroon/yellow flash.Mechanicaly it was in very good condition, albeit not mobile,After fully gutting the car and stripping the paintwork we were quite supprised at how little damage there was[testamont to the standard of driving in those days?] it was then restored back to its original appearance,Team Lotus -pin stripes etc. Checked over mechanically and rebuilt I dont recall what compression it was running but I do remember using 24 volts to get it running, then a QUICK road test and into The Collection, where it sat for approx 30yrs,I,m not awear of where the car is now though I would be interested to know.I remember the front suspension not being quite as it had left the factory!!

Arthur Carter was an east Anglian "Gentlemen" Farmer ,whilst I was there he had a car collection which would have rivalled any collection in the country! The collection ranged from BRM to RRoyce, his main interest was in BMC work,s cars Minis-- Big healeys etc.At one point we had 7 works Healeys under one roof!100s,es to the last rally car built for the 67 RAC which did,nt happen because of foot&mouth.Hope thi solves the question.

The works-built Mk 4/"5" rally car NHK344V (co-incidently posted recently on another forum).
After Ford loan to Julian Raymond 1981.
To Richard Iliffe, used in BTRDA Championship etc.
To Chris Auker in 1987 (South Yorks or Lincs), used local single-venue rallies.
To someone in the Royal Navy in Portsmouth.
No car tax record since 1988.

Does anyone have photos of the racing Mkll Cortinas?
I own a 1968 car and would like to replicate the look of the works race cars or possibly an Alan Mann car.

Perhaps you will be kind enough to post some pictures, even if only because they are lovely cars!

Glyn Jones.

Cortina Lotus MK2 Workscar CTC 14E

i have just aquired the Lotus Cortina MK2 Workscar CTC 14E from the prewowner, and try to leve it as original as possible and to run it as soon as possible in historic events. The car has only 6.400 mo÷es on the clock, yes racing miles, but is in so original state even the seat of Graham Hill is all there.
I wounder if Gery Mashal having owned this car befor it was aquired by Mr.Carter and sat for over 30 Years in a museum. Is that true anyone has a idea?

Jost

The car was then sold at auction and I think it was purchased either by Michael Schryver or Simon Hadfield. I believe that the car was recommissioned by Simon Hadfield at his well known single seater workshop.

Where are you? Does the car have an FVA engine?

1967 RAC cars

The 1967 works Ford Cortinas for the RAC rally were equipped with Tecalemit fuel injection. I was the resident engineer for Tecalemit at Boreham at the time .... at the age of 20!. Part of the deal with Tecalemit was that Ford had to give me a car. Henry Taylor pointed at 4 Cortinas and said "which one would you like". There were 3 new standard Cortina twin-cam cars and a GT pushrod development car for the Safari.... this is the one I chose, UHK 329E.

Back to the aborted 1967 RAC rally, all the works cars lost their flywheels on the way back to Boreham! The dyno in use at Boreham at the time had rather a high inertia and, at certain engine speeds, gave the flywheel to crank interface a severe talking to! From then on a slave flywheel was used for testing and replaced before the engine was installed in the car.
Memories memories!
