The placing of the Classic so far down the list of the most important events [last] on the Silverstone circuit site, does not inspire confidence, whereas it used to be second only to the GP.

My thoughts exactly Stuart, time for a major re-think on the event methinks!

I am sure a great time was had by all. Unfortunately I didn't make it, I did get to the event which was quite amazing but we had to fly out reasonably early in order to make it home before dark. I had a quick look at the Volpini - a very tasty wee car - BTW what happened regarding the accident in the Gentlemen drivers pre 66 GT race? it must have been a big shunt, I noticed the air ambulance was used. I saw the remains of the car being brought back, covered in a tarpaulin, with the cage removed, nasty!

The Air Ambulance was used because of worries of traffic, far easier way out of the circuit and certainly quicker.Driver is OK after hitting the 'new' pit wall.

Many thanks to Iain and the crew for a cracking evening. Also to the other drivers / teams who chipped in with extra bevvies!

So often, us orange riff-raff spend ages on the bank socialising with the other 3 or 4 folk on our patch and miss out on mingling further. Amazing how many faces got put to 10ths names - great to meet quite a few new folk.

So ...... all that's needed now is a sticker on your rear end saying you support Delta's marshal's BBQ and that we should push just that little bit harder

Thanks for a great evening Iain. Good to meet up with some new & familiar tenthers. I have to add you made my I/O a very happy man on Saturday-the Sharknose was the last iconic car that was on his list of cars to see (he's been marshalling for 40 years!).

Many thanks Iain and the Delta guys and gals. The BBQ was a great way to spend Saturday evening... I didn't have to cook in the campsite Hope to see you all again next year.

Its unbelievable.
At 18.30 on Sunday evening Iain was thundering round Silverstone in the Galaxie and here we are on Monday morning at 09.36 he is posting on here!
Probably driven a fair few miles and watched the GP and slept too

A big thanks to Iain and all the Delta team from Les and I for the BBQ on Saturday evening, a great end to a great day.

It was good to catch up with a few familiar faces and meet a few new ones too.

Silverstone is a definate for us next year and following conversations with Michael we shall also try to get to The Old Timers at the Ring.

Thanks again Iain , hope you will not have to live on surplus burgers for the next couple weeks

Thanks Iain and the crew,
a really pleasant way to spend a long hot day with "proper" food,
even if it did make me miss Jedward

Thanks Iain for a great BBQ on Sat. Team Morrison had a fantastic time - even if I was tortured by the children wanting to see Jedward (what a load of b******s)

Best

Hi All,

Well, my hopes for a nice sunset for the Delta BBQ group shot came to naught and the light was a little lacking by the time everyone had gathered but we got a shot - and here it is. (Click for a slightly larger version.)

I'm working on the options for an electronically enhanced and larger version which may allow people to add names to recognisable faces, but as is so typical of technology, the computer on which my alternative software is installed has decided to be grumpy and is refusing to do anything beyond show me how grumpy it is. I'm working on ways around that but there may be a short delay.

I'll make things available for download once I'm happy that they are as good as they are likely to get. Information to follow.

I would also like to add my thanks to the hospitality showed towards the marshals. It is a really great gesture and highly appreciated after a long day on the bank (especially on Hanger Straight!).

I am the marshal in orange led down at the front of the pic.

Thanks again

Great Barbie, Iain, and thanks for letting me in despite me not previously saying I would attend. Great hospitality and a great host. Well done. I've also 'captured a couple of JRs beers for sampling later!

Hi Iain,

Thanks for BBQ and beers, and the beers on Friday night. Shame timetable was not a little kinder as 8pm finish on Friday and Saturday probably stopped a few people coming. What a shame we did not get to see Jedward as I am told they were really awful just your type of thing Iain being tone deaf !!!

See you and team around the circuits soon.
