Older F3000 cars...any series out there?

I have been offered a pair of 1992 3.0 Cosworth/Reynards with 1997 suspension upgrades, but have no idea who sanctions any events that these cars are eligible to run. I am also curious as to what the forum members think are realistic values for "race ready" F3000 cars like this. Appreciate any and all feedback to my personal e-mail as well as here on the board.

The value would depend on the car history

Only series I know that these would be eligable for is EuroBOSS which is dying on it feet with only 4 meetings this year. Where are these cars? There has never been any F3000 series in the USA,so don't see how they would have any value there as racers or historic artifacts. In Europe, as jason says, if you had one driven by a future F1 driver it might increase its value.

There are/were a couple of BOSS series on both East and West coasts of the USA but I don't know what's happened to them.

More info on the cars...

Thanks for all the feedback. The cars are ex- Team Super-Nova cars, sold in 1996 and then run in the British Open Single Seater series by the eventual class champion ( don't know what years). They were brought to the USA by Jim Busby in 2001 and fully restored. He runs Tyrell F-1 and Ferrari F-1 vintage cars here in the US. The East Coast BOSS Series IS a good venue for these cars... thanks for the tip.

Ball park values?
Websites that sell these cars?
thanks again.

SpawnyWhippet has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
My guess is about $70 - $80k US for the pair if they are in good condition, reasonable history and some spares. The lack of series to run in will affect their value.

Depends what Cosworths. DFV/Ys worth much more than that alone.

What sort of upgrade would that be? 92 cars were longitudinal gearboxes and changed in 93 to transverse which remained until 98 when they reverted to longitudinal. The tubs were much the same throughout.

In standard form a 'Cosworth' car in 92 would indeed have been a DFY which changed in 93 to AC.

If these are Cosworth cars, with fitting kits, then you have the option of AC, DF series, HB and I think Judd BV, CV and Mugen MF 308 which have the same profile for the bellhousing but differenet bottom tub to engine mounts.

In Europe today there is a very thin market for these cars. The most likely would be European Mountain Racing but frankly given any good engine is going to cost GBP25k upwards the cost of going to a more modern chassis is marginal.

We have run these cars in the British Sprint Championship and Euroboss and so have been in the market to buy and sell. The value in the UK of a rolling chassis with a few running spares and two wheel sets? Absolutely no more than GBP10k and probably as low as GBP7k.

There are several F3000 cars sitting around in the UK which have not sold in the last couple of years.

I got that wrong. You will only find 93,94 and 95 cars with AC fitting kit. 96 onward I think were only built for Nippon and MF 308 engines.

As someone else said try Kevan Mclurg, he knows more than most.

I know, I know! 90/91/92 transverse box with H pattern change.

93/94/95/96/97 transverse box sequential change.

98 on longitudinal box sequential change.

98 on longtidudinal box sequential change??
would like to see that 1- neil is this 1 that u made at uni yrself??!!
to set the record straigh 90-92 H patten transvers
93-98d sequential transverse
tubs change ever 2 yrs on average so u cant have 92d car with 97 upgrades
Mr Dickens i know the beer is **** poor in Oz but dont let it affect yr judgement in assesing car values
the ozzies us ethem with a taxi v6 engine fitted we use them in ukl sprinting euroboss/ interserie european hillclimb championships and usa has 2 boss sereis east & west coast with 6 cars or so floating around that race in them so there is plenty to do with an f3000 car

f3000 cars sell for £30-50k with engines depending on year and motor fitted but i wont bore u with the variances today
