2cv 24 hours
im sure theres something about this elsewhere on here.
ive stories from a couple of marshals before but i want a more varied opinion before i decide if its worth doing. whats this like, i marshalled the 2 hour race and seen these guys 4 times this year, i dont think theyre that bad, is the event worth a 450 mile round trip? whats the entry list "usually" like, is it like 30/50/70 cars or is it just like the fancier version of usual 20 min race lot which has 15 cars in. |

It's brilliant, I had a great time last year, and sad that I am unable to make it this year. It was over a five hundred round trip for me.....

The grid is normally somewhere in the region of mid 20s - mid 30s; although reliability isn't much of an issue so a nearly full field can be expected on circuit at most times.

Basic format of the meeting is a normal clubbie until 5pm (i.e. qualies and races). The 24 started then. We were split into A and B teams, swapping 4 hours on/off, and moving to a different post every time, with everybody back together at the end. e.g. I did Senna 'til 6pm, Bomb Hole in (10-2), Richey's out (6-10), and Fantasy Island (2-finish). The 'B' team had left before the start of the 24, and they joined up for the last hour. Highlights for me were watching the 2CVs corner, going trackside at 1.20am to watch the driver plug something back in under the bonnet and carry on, and scrounging cigarettes from the garages at 3am, from which I received enough to get me through 'til the morning (it's the little things....) Only downside was feeling sorry for the guy who'd entered his Jag in 4 support races, only for the driveshaft to break off the first start, allowing him all of 100 yards before he had to take it home. The bottom line though is this; if you haven't tried a 24hr before, give it a go and see if you like it. |

Please do come and assist if you can - you really won't be disappointed, the racing is superb, the banter and cooperation between the drivers, teams and the marshals is brilliant, but I am possibly slightly biased - having now assisted (in various ways) for all the 2cv 24 hour meetings held at Snetterton.
The support given to the marshals by both the 2cv Club, Barc and Snetterton Circuit over the weekend is really appreciated and I am positive that you will be made welcome by the team. If you can assist please either PM me should you have any further questions or contact Barc to volunteer via marshals@barc.net Look forward to seeing you there. Terry |

If anyone reading this thread wants to come but cant do the whole thing, just volunteer saying what days/hours you can do and you will be accommodated.

I'll be there taking my annual break from marshalling, in the pit crew for Team Stinky. We've done well in sprint races already this season - 1st at Anglesey and 2nd at Croft - but as we all know anything can happen in a 24hr race.
"the Grid will be one of the largest in the History of the Race." Quote from the 2CV racing club newsletter for June! Sounds like the Belgian/Euro 2CVs might be invited as well, so 3-4 cars in each double garage. Should be a good race and a good party afterwards as well! |

Did my first 2CV 24hr last year for Timekeeping. Although I have done the Silverstone Britcar for numerous years as a Timekeeper.
I must say, it was really good to see everyone helping each other and ALL the cars that started also finished. I shall be doing this event again and looking forward to seeing you all again. |

There's still time to add your name to the list of dedicated 24hour racing enthusiasts and experience that special feeling that is racing into the dark through the night time hours until the sun starts to rise over the eastern horizon and then through the next day!!
Marshals of all grades would still be welcomed even if you can only assist for part of the weekend, this is one event where the more marshals we have the easier it becomes to organise shift rota's etc and the more funtime we all have!! As stated previously any assistance would be really appreciated by the 2cv Racing Club members. If you find you can assist please e-mail Chris Logan via e-mail:marshals@barc.net as soon as possible so that you can be included into the shift rota's. Look forward to seeing you there! Terry |

See you Friday too - but not sure exactly when. Maybe a bit late, but should make it for first practice session.
If I can get the time off, it'll be earlier |

I don't have Friday off work, but it's only an hour drive, so if all goes well I should be there in time for night practice.

Terry,
probably won't be there until early Saturday morning and won't be able to stay for the after race party. See you then. |

Think the average is just under one per year
2 Willhires 2 Dubais 16 Le Mans had to add the 2CVs Paul B's the one that has a problem - how many has he done so far this year? 3? (LM/Ring/Spa) |

Its one of the meetings that look foward to, only missed one 2cv meeting (24hr) since they moved it to snetterton, clashed with lemans 24hr, went there instead
have done think all since, one year did 'back to back' weekends of 24hrs plus did some of the whilhire 24hrs, but as terry said, good fun, hard work, but worth it as teams respect Us of what we do for them Please terry,. few less of your jobs from last years event....remember got moved to let you spend time sitting in safety car pete |
