Singer to retire
Norbert Singer is about to retire from Porsche. I am a big Porsche fan and this guy has shaped those cars and races that gave me no choice but to become a fan. He will stay on as a consultant, but I feel this is a significant moment in Porsche racing and racing in general.

Agree totally. Massive respect to him and his influence and achievements over the years.
Does this mean a downgrading of Porsche Motorsport activities? Was a reason given for him retiring? |

He deserves a tribute for his action for Porsche in endurance races.

Amazing individual that helped to shape the image of an icon.
Interesting that we almost tend to expect that these kind of people will be around and involved forever. But he has certainly had a long and full career and definitely deserves to rest on his laurels. With that said, he will be retained as a consultant...which in motosport allows you to stick around for some time in any number of capacities. |

amazingly talented individual in terms of engineering and technical prowess
as for the affecting Porsche's Motorsport abilities, I don't believe Singer was a major factor in Porsche's Motorsport activities for a little while, so it shouldn't affect them at all in that regard. |

I remember reading somewhere that he repeatedly asked Dr Wiedeking if there was going to be a new Le Mans program before his retirement...

I was staying in a little hotel with the Cottons and Brooks last year for the Nurburgring LMES race. The place was littered with racing memorabilia, there was a picture of a group of 917’s with a very youthful Dr Singer overseeing the work! |

@ Happy:
have you been to the Pistenklaus restaurant/bar in Nurburg? Great pics on the wall and just great to try and decode all the autographs. They serve a nice pizza caprese too. |

Cheers HappyS! The Pistenklaus when you go into town on the left side the M test center. Turn right there and after 100m going downhill on your right. jeremy Clarkson was sitting there in the top gear item about Jaguar on the Nurburgring that was on recently. They have red wine but also big beers.

To bad he is leaving! And Porsche said they might return in 2006. Maybe Singer will hold on for one more year, return to Le Mans with Porsche in 2006, and win in outright for one last time!! That would be the icing on the cake!!!!!
