SUPER BLACK RACING

So with this new team up and running a FPR Falcon and with an entry for this years Bathurst, who's going to drive the thing?

It seems like Andre Heimgartner is firming for one of the seats, i'd like to see the other go to Ant Pedersen, two young kiwi's on the scene for the debut. But you've got the likes of McIntrye, Gaunt, Halliday, those guys with plenty of Bathurst experience also without a drive this year.

I see Stanaway was in Australia for a quick visit last week, wonder what that was about?

Also Johnny Reid would be another.

I guess they wouldn't be just considering kiwi Drivers anyway.

peckstar has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Reckon this thread belongs in the main section, seeing how its about an entry at Bathurst

I'd hope they're only considering Kiwi drivers, be an error to put anyone else in it if they really want to push the "Kiwi Team" thing.

Rumor has it Andre Heimgartner has secured a seat. John McIntyre is a firm favourite for the seat too, especially considering his connections and experience with FPR. Owen Evans is on the advisory board, so don't be surprised if he pushes for Simon to take the spot.

That'd be a big call, has Simon done any racing in Australia? Or at Bathurst?

In my view Simon, nice guy, but is a bit inconsistent.

Sure hope the team goes with Kiwi drivers.

Chris pither is the obvious choice having just won the Townsville dvs round a couple of weeks ago I would have thought.Did Sandown ,Bathurst and gold coast in 2013 in a current COTF super car. Also did the Bathurst 12hr this year in a v8 Focus. Very experienced at Bathurst, more so than any other nz drivers available and only one with the COTF super cars experience.

Pither is a shoe in to race alongside Dale Wood, taking into consideration Pither runs a BJR car in the DVS series and ran in the BJR car in previous years in the 1000 so...go figure. Wood and Ingall are the only two full series runners who haven't announced their co-drivers. Ingall may choose to run Halliday.

Pither would be a great fit, seems to be such a good team ambassador too, but as 20b says, it seems he is a lock at BJR

There really is a lot of Choice out there. Forgot about Chris, has the experence but is pretty Low Profile. I would like to See One Driver with Bathurst Knowledge and the other a Rookie (Got to do it at Some Point)

So I guess we will know soon enough

So I see Andre and Ant have got the nod for this drive.
I couldn't be happier as I sponsored Ant for part of last year, and this year I'm in with Andre.
Best of luck for Bathurst and show them how its done kiwi stylee

Does that mean that Andre and Ant get to drive the 250 k race on Saturday and the 1000 km race on Sunday?
Baird did Porsche and V8SC double duty?

Doesn't look like they'll acquire a REC through the tender process, but they could end up on the grid by purchasing directly. Would have been good to see them confirmed early though.

BG, its one thing to talk about getting into the main game, but quite another to find the A$2 million [minimum] to race as a "satellite operation" to a team like FPR, let alone stumping up with A$1 plus to own a REC. A 3-4 million spend in one year is a big ask in any ones language.

With the new TV deal set to kick off next year any existing REC will probably be worth at least A$1.5 million, so I would have thought if you are prepared to spend this sort of money, then tendering something a bit less than A$1.5 would probably have been successful and also provided certainty at this point in time. My V8SC connection's say that anything much over A$1 million would have secured one of the REC available, so I guess SB will now have to stand in the market place to purchase directly, or alternatively lease a REC, which might be the better way to go in order to preserve capital cost's.

How many spare cars are there?
As I read this, it would not take too many more crashes before Bathurst and SB might not have a car available.

Bump!
Best of luck to the SBR boys, Ant and Andre, for this weekends assault on the mountain.

Some people are suggesting that if they keep their noses clean then a top 15 finish could be on the cards. Would be fantastic if that happens. We know the boys have the talent and a good car under them with some good engineer support thanks to FPR. I will be supporting all the kiwis in action to be fair, but I will be watching our SBR boys throughout the event.

If I remember correctly, XBOX wild card had a top ten finish last year (happy to be corrected). Lets hope some kiwi magic could justify these wild cards and allow them to impress.

Go kiwi go!

Who's with me raising a glass to these guys and the task ahead of them?

Got my money down on Black for a Top10 already, if the lads keep their noses clean I reckon a top 10 is very achievable.
