Who Tapes The Races?

I do, I was just wondering who else does?

I only started as of '98. It was part way through the 97/98 off-season that I suddenly thought: "Why do I not record the races?".

So I started.

Ah, Lee, I only keep the good ones too....

Thing is, for me, that would be all of them. :-)

I used to, but sometimes I'd suffer a power cut, or faulty VCR, so stopped when it was an incomplete collection. Although I don't think he needs to pad his wallet anymore, I think Bernie could make a packet if he started releasing GPs on DVD. With the way they work, you could have a DVD for a single GP, including test sessions, qualifying, interviews etc. Also you could choose TV cameras, using the angle button. £4.99 a DVD, or a season in a boxset...I'm sure he must have the old footage lying around somewhere, it could be done. Likewise an F1 channel: you could easily fill 24/7 with test sessions, qualifying, races, interviews and old races.

Actually, I've been thinking of doing that for a while now, both with F1 and CART races. 'course, I'd have to run the operation out of Russia, Estonia, or some other country that doesn't particularly respect copyright laws... But it would be very cool to make all those old races available to the fans.

I have a contact who I can get the races complete with all practice and qualy sessions dating back to 86, if I remember rightly. :-)

Can only afford to get them every now and then though, sadly...

Come sometime in the future, I will have them all!

I tape them so my friend who doesn't have cable can see them too. Then he gives me back the tape and I don't record more races over it if I like it. Then I watch the tapes when I'm trying to keep myself from going crazy in the off-season!

Thats exactly what i was looking for here Evilsenna.

What program do you use?
Can you only put 1 race on a CD, and can you play it on a DVD-Player by making it a VCD?

I have the highlight videos for the season going back to 1997. I wish I had certain races on video or DVD, but it would be finding the time to accually sit down and watch them. Still it would be great if you could buy full races on DVD.

I tape and keep good or otherwise important races. I started keeping from Adelaide 1993, the last win for Ayrton Senna.

I have kept also Silvestone 1994, Adelaide 1994, Montreal 1995, Silverstone 1995, Monaco 1996, Suzuka 1996, Jerez 1997 etc.

I used to tape every one from about 1994. Just as Montoya crashed at Monaco 2001, my video broke. Haven't taped one since (apart from Brazil '03, only because I was working).

i taped a few, but then they always get recorded over, normally with some other motorsport programme, like F3 or GTs, which is normally more entertaining.

I'd quite like Hungary 1998. That was a good race.

I taped all of 2000, still have most of it. I probably have one or two races lying around from 2001 as well I think. None from 2002, except for Australia, and none from 2003.

I only look back at Germany 2000.

Was Germany 2000 the one with the protester that brought out the safety car and RB won? That was a interesting race!

Started taping highlights in 1997 - moved on to whole races after cursing myself for not having the whole of Jerez (every other region showed a re-run on the Tuesday night too! )

Currently taping - All GPs, both qualies, highlights (for extra interviews - and don;t usually stay up to watch them). Also F3, GT etc.. er yes, I am incredibly sad!

Yes. Along with Brazil 2003 and Australia 1994, the best race I have seen. I have Aus '94 on a CD somewhere, I might get it out again. Very tense race.
