Caterham Racing

I was at Knockhill yesterday and saw the caterhams racing, brilliant, all i want to know is, how much-ish wold a caterham cost to run in the B-Class, or whatever its called, including buying the car and equipemnt?

Caterhams are two seaters, so I'm going to move this to National and Club.

For a brand new car from Caterham, I would have thought £20k+.. plus trailer and bits. someone I know has bought a second hand class A for about 11-13k and currently runs it in the 750MC series.

If you want to stand a chance, look at around £1500 - 2000/round including testing, fuel, tyres, etc.....

Run it yourself (if you know what you're doing) and you can cut that down no end, but you don't get a chance to relax between qualifying and the race.

You can pick up a Grads spec Caterham for £7 - 10k, or a Super-Grad for around £12k (same as a RS B). Some of our more finicially challenged members say they can do a season for £3-4k, barring major accidents - half of this is entry fees. Grads provide tech support to all driver FOC, so you don't need a mechanic (in fact, teams are barred). Certainly saved my race at Croft on Saturday when my clutch cable snapped in the assembly area - I still made the grid!

PM me if you'd like more info. Grads (all three classes/grids) are racing at Knockhill in August - you could be on the grid by then!

Doh - didn't realise you weren't a novice. Grads also have a faster Mega-Graduate class, which might appeal - see www.graduates.org.uk. If you are already racing in Europe, have you seen the Caterham Eurocup series - Superlights and Roadsports at Spa, Nurburgring, Brands, Dijion, etc
