There were no spare chassis available at the time. What else did you expect them to do? Sit out two meetings, and cop the fines?

Must have been engineering change then I remember seeing something to do with Tekno and Team 18 changing engineers.

Charlie will go to two cars but only if it is commercially viable. Time will tell if next year is too soon. We know there'll be a few spare 888 VF's up for grabs by someone.

DJR's fall after Charlie left was immediate and swift.
Gee, that wouldn't be because the 2010 Championship was built on a foundation of debt.. With a star driver with a higher salary than the title sponsorship!?

Nobody is saying the Westpoint disaster could not be foreseen, nor the failure of First Rock home loans, but that is what it is. The team was obviously in a solid position before then. Unfortunately Luff and Wilson in #18 were not the star drivers they needed with their solid Shell sponsorship.

If only Lowndes was with Steve. May have been a completely different story. We may have seen DJR dominance and Triple 8 not well known

DJR was in no shape to take on Lowndes, even if Ford subsidised it, and Max Wilson was no mug either. Probably one of the most competitive internationals we've had. It was a shame that he was crash-prone and too hard on the gear.

Charlie wanted a more commercially-viable driver than Steve. Someone who could either bring money, or attract money. However the family insisted on Steve keeping his drive. The thing with Steve is that he came onto the scene 2-3 years too late, and didn't really have the impact that Lowndes did. By the time he did get a full-time gig at DJR, Bright, Tander, Murphy, Richo Jr, Bargwanna etc were already occupying the pointy-end of the grid, with a couple of seasons racing under their belts.

Stevey by far though was no failure as a driver, he knew how to steer and still does, shame he never won that title the year he contended for

Why do you need to schedule the calendar whens its generally scheduled in each year as it is? (Non points round)

Atleast they get to race for something (points) next year instead of repairing cars for no reason whatsoever other than a race spectacle.

There is noise around whether there will be a 2 or 3 week gap between the Adelaide 500 & the GP... to give time for the teams to turn their cars around for a points race... there is a difference...

Looking at the F1 schedule it would be pretty easy to have 1 hour races on Friday and Sunday.Saturday is more problematic as it is not possible to have a 1 hour race between P3 and Qualifying. The only option here if they want a 1 hour race is to have it at around noon.
