That was an iffy move by Jordan. And the Collard-Ingram incident was a shame and a bit unnecessary really, looked like Ingram kept moving over even though Collard was alongside. But very good racing so far today, and its great to see so many cars so close - it really does look more competitive than last year.

Just back from Brands, brilliant day with plenty of action three different winners in three different cars, that is what you want from racing

That was a cracking day of racing, action throughout the field, and 32 (for some part) competitive cars - without the Infinitis or Protons trundling round miles off the pace - was great to see.
Have to say I can't see past Shedden or Neal for the title. But it's very early days and a lot can (and will) change. BMW look strong again however, and will give them some fierce competition. Delighted for Tingram getting his first win, and I thought a few rookies did well too. Sutton is the obvious one, but Matt Simpson was on the pace and not afraid to get his elbows out - without punting anybody off - pleasantly surprised by Epps too who was there or thereabouts having came from nowhere. Great to see Welch being competitive again, and reminding everyone how decent a driver he is. Likewise Jake Hill, who was very unlucky with a failure and then being punted off when some decent finishes looked on the card. Austin and Abbott don't seem to have struggled adapting to FWD, decent performances from both, especially Austin from 31st in R2. Subarus got consistently better as the weekend went on, and Aron Smith looks like he'll thrive in the No.1 driver role with BKR. Adam Morgan, the Motorbase duo and Aron Smith will ensure this years independents trophy is fascinating. 4 similar drivers in terms of results, and I'm looking forward to watching that battle heat up. Bring on Donington! |

regarding the not so good weekend think could be mention Neate who was even behind Mat Simpson.... and 0 points while his team mates are 1-2 in championship
the privateers Fords didn't go too far either, for some reason Brands Indy and Ford Focus was never a good combination |

Yep, Neate had a bit of an anonymous weekend, he kinda vanished a little bit. Hopefully he has a stronger Donington.

Looks like we'll have a fantastic year, unless Honda (and with Honda I mean Shedden and Neal ) are going to dominate like they more or less have this weekend. |

3 great races, action throughout the field in every one and I can't believe how close the field was. Something like the top 15 cars with just 20 secs splitting them!!
Echo some of the earlier comments about Andrew Jordan's 'push to pass' tactics, I noticed it at least 2-3 times. I thought he was a better driver than that |

Great weekend of racing as usual! The constant update on if Jason Plato has been to the bathroom or scratched his ankle gets a bit tiring, as well as the constant excuses from the commentary team, but otherwise as fun as always.

All in all though I enjoyed the day - really pleased for Dan Welch to get 3 solid finishes (also enjoyed the sight of him keeping Plato at bay ). Good debuts from Simpson and Epps too I thought. Looks like it should be a good season |

That dnf from Shedden will probably be the thing that keeps the title race really close into the final round. Well done to Morgan for the win, he finally seems to have grown a pair.

Pleasantly surprised by the Team HARD chaps. All there or there abouts, withHill punching about is weight and not afraid to fight for positions.
Some amateur hour stuff, but that could be a combination of 32 cars and Brands Indy. It sets up a great season on less tight tracks. Fletcher. He qualified last. He binned it on his own. Yet, on pace, he wasn't driving around at the back on his lonesome, was dicing with drivers with a years BTCC experience. Not saying he'll be champion this year, but not too bad considering a serious lack of testing. |

I was pretty impressed with Fletchers approach I have to say. he seemed to be very consciously trying to keep out of trouble, and not get in anyones way, but when he had someone to follow was ok tagging along at the back, not getting completely dropped. Shame about R3 but still I was expecting much less.
Neate is a very good driver to have in the series...... Now bear with me. He shows how good Shedden and Neal are, and that its not all just the car, that those two boys know what they are doing (not that it needed proving, but still). As many others have said, good to see the Welch Proton back nearer the pointy end. Other than that, good day out all round, generally pretty clean racing from where I was sitting, and as enjoyable as BTCC always is. Never seen Brands that busy, and look forward to seeing the attendance figures from that. |

Very enjoyable day for my little lad and myself who pitched up at Clearways and had a great view.
Echo a few of the above comments, Fletcher impressed me with his first event staying out of trouble and not getting in the way as did Matt Simpson. Great result for Speedworks and Honda, I hope BMR have plenty of spares as the size of that thing makes it a target! As for Andy Neate, that man has no place on this grid. |

Great racing in all 3
So pleased to see Tingram get his first win, lights to flag, but it was a bad mistake he made in R2. Leaning on a driver as aggressive as Collard is only gonna end one way. Same should be said for Tordoff in race 1 Adam Morgan proved that he can win a race by soaking up the pressure. Obviously learned from Knockhill last year. A dark horse for the title. The two drivers who have improved the most are Jeff Smith, who looked comfortable running at the front, apart from the R1 mistake and Dan Welch, who's finally got the opportunity to remind everyone what a great talent he is. As for Neate, at least he didn't ruin anyone's race Jordan after a slow start proved he is at least the equal if not better than Jackson in the same car. The star of the day however was Aron Smith, however that said he had a great weekend at Brands last year, but still it's a good way to start the season The rookies impressed, Sutton of course, taking to it like a duck to water, Simpson got better over the weekend and Fletcher kept up with the others Turkington looked the only Scooby driver who could attack, shame bad luck prevented more results Finally I shouted at the screen when that marshal was on the track |
