Gutierrez was a Ferrari Development driver and spent a season with Sauber and Haas over a few years.

While he under-delivered with Haas last year against Grosjean, the Sauber he drove didnt give me much hope of being anything bar a backmarker.

Let's see how he goes at Detroit before making to many decisions about his ability

He also pitched fits at Haas. Was so bad late in the year, as he was storming off, one of the team guys grabbed him and straightened him out a little. Seems like he burns bridges.

I'd rather see sage karam or some other young driver who hasn't got a full shot yet. But I do realise karam being a little crash happy is probably not what coyne needs.

He finished 11th place out of 22 cars 5 times last year just outside the points. He is not a backmarker pay driver.

HighParker should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
After many noted the poor condition of much of the track last year in Toronto, it looks like at least some small amount of work towards repaving has started, along with some of the concrete barriers now being set-up. When I walked past the northeast corner of the football/soccer stadium yesterday, I could see that a stretch of old pavement in the turn 9 and pit entrance area had been removed.

If andretti went to Chevy, does penske go to honda, to better align with a penkse/honda dpi, with andretti showing interest in dpi and maybe going with something other than honda?

McLaren/ganassi/honda for Alonso next year?

There's always been a driver Silly Season but a potential engine Silly Season plus the new aero-kit?

2018 should be very interesting.

As long as Chevy is being built by Ilmor I can't see even Penske moving to Honda. If anyone can pull off a deal it's probably Roger but can't see why Honda would want the owner of their competitor running their engines.

If Andretti switch, it would leave Sato without a drive, so he would need to go to a Honda team. Therefore a swap with Ed Jones.

If we're trying to find a Honda team for Sato, why not Ganassi? He has at least one driver that doesn't deserve a Ganassi ride and maybe more. Sato would be an improvement of one car for Ganassi. And if it's replacing the driver I'm thinking of, he'll have sponsorship money to get him in another car. (I want to see who everyone thinks is the weak link in Ganassi, that's why I'm not saying his name yet.)

Good question and I overlooked Ganassi, as I thought they had their sponsorship finances, pretty much shored up. However, looking at the sponsorship deals Ganassi has in place, it's obvious.

This is getting very cryptic.

Would be interesting, if Ganassi drops TK (not very likely, NTT loves him, he's always competitive at the Speedway) and AA goes Chevy, to see Sato and Panasonic go to the #10 car (possibly split with NTT Data or Camping World), while NTT Data and Camping World split the duties on the #9 car.

As I've already said, it's pure speculation. We all know if Andretti goes back to Chevrolet, Sato will have to find a drive with a Honda team. I've suggested Dale Coyne, RWill2073 suggested Ganassi. Who do you think Sato might go to, in order to secure a drive with a Honda team?
