I really fail to see how this story on Speedcafe was anything more than a V8Supercar attempt to create some destaibilisation in the week following the event having a major positive announcement (the Ch7 deal)
What V8SC did do with those non-commital comments from Mr Warburton was to basically ensure that alot the leading teams wanting to race in the event can now not confirm their driver line-up (to sponsors for example) until V8Supercars decides to release their calendar for next year, and that announcement hasn't always been early in the last few years. Quote:
The involvement of the V8 drivers is what attracts more of the 'general' interest and gets the fence sitters to decide to come watch the race, they see names they are familiar with. As great a drivers as the likes of Maxi Buhk or Matt Griffin are, they weren't the drivers who got the likes of Channel 9's Erin Molan to spend all weekend reporting on the 2014 Bathurst 12hr, it was drivers like Lowndes, SVG and Will Davison. They are the one's that give the event the extra 'push' that the organsiers wanted with the 2011 rule changes. |

Channel 7 just needs to ensure Webber is racing and they can milk that promotional cow for all he's worth to capture the interest of the casual motorsport observer. Remember there in no COTF or new Manufacturers to promote in 2015 unlike previous years nor uncertainty of a scheduled race at SMP. The test day will have no measurable effect on attendance. I will miss the Giz and that is it.
(Reminder to everyone to not feed the trolls). |

didn't know it was V8SC's obligation to look after ''other'' series, why should the V8 circus care about any other motor racing series in Aus?

It's not like anyone is asking them to do much - just don't change the traditional date of their test day to clash with the traditional date of another major, and popular event that some their drivers want to compete at, some of their sponsors have an involvement in and some of their fans would like to attend. |

The B12hr is so superior to any event that the supercars can produce, that's why Ch 7 dumped the V8s for the GTs in February.

IIRC: Ch7 made bid(s) to continue their broadcasting arrangement with V8SC & subsequently expressed their 'disappointment' that they had not been successful ? How does that morph into 'Ch 7 dumped the V8s' |

Ch 10 is a basket case to the point where media analysts this week were suggesting there is only room for two free to air broadcasters. |

The number of personnel AVE have would be substantial less to begin with. They probably have half the number of cameras, no helicopter and no studio set. Of course this all could change for next year. But on the previous occasions AVE has produced motorsport telecasts for C7 the production values were on a par with the work they do for SBS. But regardless, I am really looking forward to next years race and glad it will get greater exposure. |

And for all you attacking v8s for "sabotaging" the 12hr, you go try to run a calendar and start working out all the conflicts inherent, most of them are a lot more immovable than another car race. At the end of the day, Foxtel is paying the big bucks and they want to broadcast the test day, and the Cricket World Cup will pull eyeballs off that. Probably not a lot of chance the test day will move. |

They really won't give 2 hoots what day the test day is on, as long as they see an increase in foxtel boxes being installed And as for the snoozefest that the Cricket World Cup will be, 50 over one day cricket is dead |

The 12hr organisers moved the race to it's current time slot to get away from the V8s and to suit overseas competitors. For someone who clearly dislikes the 12hr so much I don't understand why you bother spending so much time reading, researching and commenting on it..... |

the v8 potential move is only a few words in speedcafe article, Nothing on the v8 site, so who is being the more aggressive. If the 12 hour doesn't want a war, then it and its fanbois would be wise not to provoke the v8 series |

Those last 2 posts sum up perfectly why I much prefer the 12hr. The arrogance/ignorance is not only restricted to the management of V8 Supercars but heavily rife with in its fans too.
Enjoy your processional taxi race in October boys and leave us GT fans to enjoy our race in happiness. On a side note I hope the Reiter boys have done as good a job on the exhaust for the 7.9L Camaro as they did on the Lambo. Looks like one or two will be in the race now. |

apparently to some people on here you can't like the V8 Supercars and GT racing at the same time...no wonder people like jumping to conclusions.

So to summarise the last couple of pages:
"B12H is better than V8s" "Is not" "Is too" "Is not" "You're arrogant" "No you're arrogant" "No you are." Did I miss anything? |
