In addition to the "favourite season" poll, what's your least favourite season?

2002. By far... The next worst season is only 10% as bad as '02
But I'm sure the tifosi will disagree |

I voted 1994, no season in that list was as bad as that one, not even 2002...

It has to be 2002. At least Senna died bravely and manfully, doing what he loved. 2002 saw F1's soul stolen by the Evil Empire, with very little excitement anywhere in the field. We had the Austria fiasco, a succession of pre-perscribed 1-2s, no other car coming clsoe to the Ferrari, no real racing in the Ferrari team, Raikkonen losing out in France, Montoya and Fisichella stuck in cars which don't represent their skill, Justin Wilson missing out on a debut in the Minardi, need I go on?

1994 was the worst season on that list.
Please do not forget that Roland Ratzenberger was taken as well..... 2002 was not so bad - Ferrari did a fantastic job and Williams and McLaren failed us and Formula 1. Ferrari should have never been given the oportunity to make F1 dull. |

2002. I'm not judging by tragic events, but by the quality of the racing. It's motorsport, people get killed no matter what's done to try and prevent it, so grow up and live with it.
F1 really bottomed out last year. So did CART... Is open-wheel road racing dying? |

1994. No competition. The question didn't ask about the quality of the racing (otherwise last year would have won by several hundred laps). It asked me which was my least favourite season. I have the video I recorded of Imola 1994 sitting on a shelf at home. I've never watched it. In terms of "least favourite" (for whatever reason) nothing comes remotely close.

Deaths aside. 1994 was probably one of the most exciting season of the 90's.
I have to say 2002. although 92 was pretty dull. |

1994 was a tragical season, but we can not forget the last three races! That decision was one of the betters of all F1 history.
I voted 1995. |

2002, based on the quality of racing we had to watch. 1994 was tragic, but I agree with what BootsOnTheSide said.

1994: 2 deaths and a lot of heavily wounded (Alesi, Lehto, Lamy, Wendlinger, ...) drivers makes it the worst season I saw since I started watching F1.
2002 was the least exciting season in ages. |

Although 1994 had the best GP I ever saw! Remember Suzuka 1994: Hill thriumps over Schumacher and Mansell and Alesi fought a heavy battle in the Japanese rain all race long. Never saw a better race since that day.

... and Mika Hakkinen was nearly killed in Adelaïde :-( He was very lucky to survive that accident. 2002 was much duller |

I voted 2002 but i was going to go for 1994 as well...
The reason I chose 2002 was that in 2002 i didn't even watch all the races, while in 94 i managed to do it |

I know, that's why i added the 'Others (please specify)' option. Surprising that nobody has voted for other seasons like 1982(Gilles death), 1967(Bandini died in Monaco) or 1992/93 (Williams' rather boring dominance). Last edited by ASCII Man; 27 Mar 2003 at 20:49. |

1994 is a contender for least favourite season (of those in the last 10 years) based on the Imola tragedies alone. But as well as Imola that year we had the Wendlinger/Lehto accidents (Monaco and pre-season respectively). Not that open a season (2 drivers shared 14 of the 16 races between them).
Then there was the carnage at the start of the Hockenheim race and controversy over: fuel rig tampering disqualifications and race bans the title being decided by a controversial collision a black flag (ignorance of) etc... Last edited by x_dt; 27 Mar 2003 at 22:17. |

As far as quality of racing goes, I thought the 1999 season was the worst by far with all cars made to run on the super - hard bridgestone tyres, overtaking and excitement was in short supply.
At least in 2000 the engineers had adapted to the harder tyres further, and the racing was slightly better. The actual racing in 2001 and 2002 has been much improved thanks to the softer rubber and in part to the small reduction in areo at the start of the 2001 season. |

I'd vote for '94 if I'd seen it, but I haven't so I can't choose it. For seasons I've seen, it has to be 2002.

My favourite season: Mika winning the WDC. Close championship battle. Schumacher out for most of season. Wins for Stewert and Jordan. Six drivers won races. First race at Sepang. Watching BAR flounder. No Traction/Launch Control. Ferrari winning Constructors. Irvine nearly winning the title. Frentzen 3rd in WDC. An incredible season. |
