Will you go to Townsville for their street race?

OK, time for a quick poll.....

Apart from Peckstar, who will be going to Townsville for their street race?

Quite simple really.

The Punters will go for sure.

Not in 2008 though, we're off to Phillip Island.

Do you reckon he will be there Pete, he loves Winton so much. There is media in Shepp at the moment that is saying that Townsville will get the race at the expense of Winton. That will upset the peckstar!

Wouldnt Townsville eventually get the race from no further Oran Park rounds after next year? Winton deserves to stay on the calender.

Townsville is too far away from me and the costs for airfare and accommodation would be prohibative.

I'd rather support the permanent tracks then attend the street races.

I only go to Clipsal because it's all we've got in SA!

i support permanent tracks and they should make up the majority of any motorsport calender but i'm not going to not attend a street race purely for it not being a permanent circuit, if it produces good racing and you can have a fun time then i will attend any track for any category of motorsport if that means the track is permanent or a street coarse, permanent tracks all the way but aslong as they don't go overboard with the ammount of street races i'm happy.

It's an event, it looks like fun - I'll go. Much more atmosphere at this street circuit than there will ever be at Eastern Creek

Airfares with a plane full of Branson's Virgins are about $160 each way ex Sydney.

From the east coast it's cheaper than Darwin and heaps less than Perth!

I live in SEQ and would definately attend, it's not so bad for me to get there. I will look at '09 at this stage. I went to first Canberra race, and quite liked it (wasn't too keen on the icy weather though!). As much as the street races cop alot of flak, I don't mind attending them. A street race in Townsville also gives me a great chance to check out FNQ at the same time. Would I still go if it was located at a permanent circuit? Probably not, it's a completely different atmosphere for mine...

I don't think I would spend money on going to any street circuits again. They are a terrible place to watch the racing.

I know the question was not directed at me but I would like to reply.

For me anything other than a trip to Wanneroo is a substantial family holiday so I believe it is a combination of both. Even if I was to attend alone or with friends who have an interest in the sport I would prefer something more than a meeting at for example Winton.

So an event like Clipsal, the GP, Indy or Bahrain/Wellington would be my preference because of all the associated events and year round facilities and services available in the major cities. The question about racing is more difficult because it can sometime be hit and miss no matter where you go.

i go for the racing but in saying that if the atmosphere is a dud the whole weekend can be a dud, so Racing first then chuck in the atmosphere and fun and it's a perfect weekend.

If i go to a race meeting i want to be able to see what is happening on a large percentage of the circuit.
I go to see the racing and don't need all the comforts of home to enjoy myself. Country boys don't need leather lounges and 4 star toilets like their soft city cousins.
What is atmosphere?

Because they don't like them, or don't know how to use them?

Just don't need em'.

I know a few people who go to Darwin and they reckon they have a great time up there. From what i have been told the 'atmosphere' is great. Hidden Valley is certainly no Surfers Paradise or Adelaide so what is the attraction.

Bathurst is great, pitch a tent rough it for the weekend have a chat with the blokes up there, not to disimilar to darwin, that also produces a great atmosphere and is great fun, but i also like Clipsal and Indy for the oposite but nothing beats roughing it.
