Can make the claim it is better because the GT categories were not super strong back then. 2007/2008 which was the peak of the ALMS LMP days yes, but that was when GT1 was dying.
The peak of GT racing in ALMS were the last couple of years of it in 2012/2013. That has carried through to today with GTLM and GTD. Although Dodge Viper, Flying Lizard, and Falken are missed greatly. We are in a golden age of GT racing when you take into account GTLM and GT3 racing world wide |

All the Mazda press stuff is saying 13 class wins at Sebring. When were these? I only had a quick look through Wikipedia but didn't see any. Group C?

Anyone reckon Nissan might want to look at giving a little more support to ESM now Honda and Mazda are going to be serious movers?

There are a million classes. A field that half of which don't look competitive. And, where's the Pro-Am?
We are both spoilt now and complain about nothing and also miss out and don't see what is really good. |

I do feel that Joest is a big upgrade. SpeedSource had success in GT racing, but since then they seemed to be out of their element. That being said, Joest and Multimatic are still saddled with an engine that's still got somewhat questionable reliability outside of a 6 hour race, not to mention a chassis that in ACO spec has proven to be the worst of the current lot.
I wonder if Joest and Mazda will try and switch chassis, or do Joest and Multimatic think they can right the ship on the Riley chassis? |

This could well be PWC news, But CTSCC runners MIA have just taken delivery of a McLaren 650s GT3. Could step up from GS to GTD next year? Or PWC maybe

(edit: The Cosmo finished 25th overall, 9th in GTU) A bunch of GTU over the years; and two Lights wins: '85, Downing and Maffucci in an Argo/Mazda, and '86, Rothbart, Meyer, and Kline in a Royale/Mazda. (edit II: Sorry field, I see your post now. I missed the Kudzu win and ain't goin' back thru...what year was that? Thanks.) Last edited by jimclark; 19 Jul 2017 at 01:14. |
