Holden drivers to swap seats

In today's Motorsport News it has a article regarding Garth Tander, Greg Murphy and Jason Bright on where they'll might be driving in '05.

Tander ---> Kmart Racing
Murphy ---> PWR
Bright ---> New Holden team based in Melbourne.

This years silly season is already giving me a headache! I think it might be best if we all just went to sleep and wake up in March! It would save a lot of confussion.

Nah. If we all did that, then the forums would be as quiet as...

Most of the fun of these discussions comes from all the speculation, rumors, reasons why Driver X is going to Team Y and all the counter views as to why he isn't, and in fact, he's going to Team Z......

That, and bagging Skaife and HRT, of course...

:-)

Well i can tell you in 2005 there WILL be a new Holden team that will buy a current FORD team franchise. I cant say what team and who will buy it but its all confirmed.

As far as those rumors go i can tell you Jason Bright WILL be with PWR next near, Murphy has a contact with K-Mart for next year. The only one i dont know about is Tander

As far as i know Murphy does NOT have a contract with K-Mart racing for next year, unless he has resigned in the last few weeks or so.

If Murphy's quip is verbatim, then it would seem that something is bubbling under the surface....

I had heard a whisper that 888 were to jump the fence - that couldn't be on could it? I know they run vauxhall's in the uk - want to keep the connection perhaps?

No, Triple 8 signed a 5 year deal with Ford at the end of 03/beginning of 04.

Which makes a swap unlikely - but not impossible.

Who are the Ford teams that have long term contracts to drive Fords?
888/Betta
SBR
FPR
DJR/Shell
BJR/Ozemail

Is this correct?

There's still strong talk of the Tander/DJR link but GT and Junior together.......well they don't exactly get on.

Predictions for 05:

Owen Kelly may also replace Luff??
Dale Brede to retire??
SBR to stay the same??
FPR to be even more uncompetitive??
888 start winning races (with the Organic matter of C. Lowndes)
and finally;
If CL doesn't go to 888,
Lowndes to go back to Formula Ford, (you don't see many of their engines expiring do you)

Will he still be relying on Seton to set his car up for him in FFord?

I think you have a "title hang-up". There are a few people in motorsport who can drive, yet also have a clue about the engineering involved in race cars. In the "olden days", this was probably quite common, as race teams revolved around the owner-driver.

I suspect Seto is of the old school, and most definitely has more of a clue than CL when it comes to understanding the cause and effect of car set-up.

Are you guys serious?

Lowndes is one of the best development drivers going around. Seton's not bad, but he's not a fan of the electronic age. It's no coincidence that as data-logging became more instrumental in set-up, Seton became less and less competitive. It wasn't just about money, infrastructure or resources.

Look at PWR. Brighty's a quick driver, but without computers he'd be lost. Weel is just useless when it comes to devlopment.
They set up by number crunching. They take in masses of data and use that to set the car up. Brighty tells them whether it feels good or bad, if it's understeering or oversteering and the stopwatch tells them if it's fast. There team engineer doesn't even watch him on the track when testing, he stays in the garage and watches the computer.

And it works.
