Did Bruce Pears drive it (I know he drove for DB Motors), or was it someone else?
The DB Motors (from Leicester, I think) car was the Ian Richardson Corvair. Don't remember the name Bruce Pears - was it Martin ??

DB Motors were based in Leicester. They specialised in importing American cars and parts for them. The boss was a guy called Martin, Matrin Dilks I think, but I don't remember him being a driver. Bruce Pears drove a DB Motors sponsored MG Midget in the DB Motors/CCC Magazine Modified Sports Championship, I think his team mate was journalist Art Marcus who wrote for CCC Magazine.

Thanks for your replies re Terry Stone.

Here's a slightly off topic link; Terry Stone drove an A/H Sprite in the DB Motors /CC Prod Sports Series,Mallory,9/9/1979. and he was entered by DB Motors too.
I got my mods mixed up with the prods.

Also looking through my progs DB Motors entered a Corvair to be driven by Graham Goode.

Right I'll take my anorak off now.

saaben.

It would be interesting to see what condition the body's in. The panel beating on it was a work of art
I think I put a photo up of the white Corvair from the German Group 5 meeting from Donington.

Stone was entered by DB in some Donny GT races in the early 80s, it WAS the ex-Richardson car.

Thanks Dan, I thought I was on the right track regarding T Stone and the Corvair but I had to look through my progs to find it was a prod and not a mod midget.

Hi Andrew, do you have any knowledge or pictures of a 5 litre Skoda built by Bob Leckie in Aberdeen? using McLaren componants.

Said to have been built from parts of his ex-Keith Holland McLaren M10B IIRC. I'd be interested too as I've never seen pictures and have never found mention of it in the press.

Morris Minor anybody?
Found these in an old box of racing pics yesterday. Seems to be the same car but different logo / dates.
Over to you guys....

I remember seeing this Minor racing numerous times at Mallory Park. I can't remember the drivers name but am sure he was a local Leicester chap and remember it being sponsored by two Leicester companies - Duplus Domes (a plastics company I think), and Houghton Garage (presumably Houghton on the Hill Morris Minor Centre?).

I recall the Funnell car too, 1300 BDA engine wasn't it? Lovely looking car, but none too quick as I remember. The Skodas, is it Tony D on pole, and the other one I don't know?

Thanks Andy. Is the pic from about 1980-81? Looks like another Skoda a bit further back, Suggy maybe? Then a Firenza and a Chevette, would the latter be Graham Wallwork?

I don't know if it was a super or a special saloon, but does anyone else remember a Vauxhall Chevette HS/HSR with a large blower sticking out of the bonnet ? I *think* it was sponsored by AT&T/Istel - I remember seeing it in the pits at, I think, Thruxton but don't remember ever seeing it race.

Charles Challenger raced a supercharged Rover V8 engined Chevette in the late 1980's. I'm sure that during 1989 it was re-painted a turquoise/blue (my wife tells me I've no idea of colours!) and sponsored by a telecommunications company "TELI".
(They also sponsored Ray Armes production saloon VW Golf 16v at the same time).

Does anyone have any photos from the Birmingham Motoring Festivals in the 1970s (1970, 1972, 1975, 1978) and 1980?

Plenty of Super Saloon cars took part in the parades around the streets of Birmingham.

Yeah i think it was probably 2009 certainly no earlier than that. If i remember correctly at the same meeting the guy with the Red Sierra beast had engine trouble (i think) and he was pitting near you.
