I'm glad common sense finally prevailed and I'm looking forward to the STCC for the first time in many years. How the split was ever allowed to happen in the first place (one would think the IndyCar split would be shining example of why splits do not work) I'll never understand, but when there's ego, money and power involved...

Anyway, grid looks good so far and will only keep getting better and better.

Now if we could just get some proper racing tracks here in Sweden...

(Oh, and some proper TV-commentators - the "AJ AJ AJ OJ OJ OJ" SVT crew is... Ah, I'll just stop right there.)

I was also hoping to see rallycross talent Magda Andersson behind the wheel at some point, but maybe that rumor was just fumes.

Still waiting for Mtech to announce drivers for their two SEATs, among others. I would love to see the Hoffsten family enter an Alfa, maybe with Niclas Lilja or some other Trofeo Abarth talent
Any grid size below at least at a minimum of 16 full time entries (it shuld in my opinion be at least 20 full time entries) is worth some complaining.

But it is, as expected, a step forward from last year.

Just wish there would be more full time entries. But rebuilding takes time, so fingers crossed there is time for that.

40% increase in grid size over the year prior is very good.

From low numbers it is easier to get higher percentage rises but still the actual number can be low.

As I wrote: Yes, an improvement over last year which is good and welcome.

But, grid numbers are still too low and needs to improve, both when it comes to quantity and quality. So let's hope it does.

I think a minimum requirement for grid size in a series like STCC should be 16 full time entries like we saw in 2012 in TTA.

I hope we one day will see that again.

It is a new concept though. The TCR cars are demanded almost everywhere and the supply is not unlimited. IMO this year will be somewhat of an introduction and 2018 will probably be the first "real" season. Hopefully there are teams and drivers thinking of entering STCC but wants too see how things unfold, or maybe wait for next year so they can get ahead with plans. Anyways, the future looks bright for once.

I think the cars at Mtech are actually privately owned track day cars serviced by Mtech.

OK, but at least one of them had the latest STCC windshield banner and some other championship logos last time I saw.

Ah, it could also have been sold to a team I guess since it's hard to get cars in time for the testing now. IIRC they were the latest spec.

Great news, and respect for the man for again making the 'Dealer Team' deal!

We Dutch are jealous on Swedish importers. Unfortunately Dutch importers have no interest.

Mattias Andersson is known for making most of a very tight budget. The wording "with some backing from Honda Sweden" implies he get very very little financial support from them.

That's great news! Even if they are not all full season that is an impressive effort.

STCC is really shaping up this year isn't it?

Åhlin-Kottulinsky (5/7) and Johan Kristofersson (4/7) are part time to, hopefully there will be stand-ins though.

Also you can add P1 Motorsport to the list of rumored teams!

And there's at least one more team and driver not listed above that are still not official. We will for sure see a grid above 20 cars, but as we know not all of them will be present at all venues.

Obviously Mikaela lost her seat in ADAC GT Masters, so she might do the full season aswell...? Or we will see her in TCR Germany...
