3state should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Patrick Racing

I've heard worrying rumours that Pat Patrick is considering switching to IRL next year? Can anyone confirm?

I've heard nothing of this. Perhaps is just a contingency plan in case things don't work out for next season.

Another rumour has Patrick losing his Visteon sponsorship at the end of this year...

I've heard they're losing Visteon, which would clearly be a hard sponsor to replace. i certainly hope it isn't true.

The commentators on the Australian coverage were saying that there is speculation too that Newman and Haas are going their separate ways next year - CART and IRL respectively.

Also does anyone have an idea of the state of affairs next year for American Spirit given they still don't have a title sponsor?

Sorry about the gloomy rumours but these are worrying. On a positive note I hear that PK Racing are preparing a second car for Mika Salo to race in Miami...

Makes one wonder about the intelligence of marketing people who would spend money to be seen by 10,000 people in Naz, PA and not 100,000 in Montreal.

I had heard that American Spirit has private funding for their first three seasons, don't know how reliable the info is though.

I hope that's true, although I'd have to wonder, if CART are supplying the funding, how, with their muhc depleted coffers can they afford to do it?

Apologies for the post here. I've been absent for a while and hadn't read the latest on the racing rumours thread...Read there that Haas denies explicitly looking at IRL unless CART folds, which is from the horse's mouth so to speak.
