Changes To Oulton Park

Heard on the Radio this morning that the armco barriers on the inside of Lodge Corner are being moved back for safety reasons.

This is to be done in time for the visit of the F3's in a couple of weeks!

Does anyone know whether this is on the approach to Lodge from warwick Bridge or is it on the exit into the dip at Deer leap?

Thanks Ken!

I guessed the track would be left alone!

Do you think this will actually make things safer?

me personally no
well it depends how much they take off the corner it could make it worse and make it a straight line into the tyre/armco at the bottom of the dip

Check out news on the motorsport vision site. Also some resurfacing at Cadwell. Improvements beginning to be seen, anything hapening at Brands or Snett?

It looks good to me - cars spinning off on the inside will be less likely to bounce off the Armco back into the path of oncoming traffic.

At a guess.......

I would say this is "In Preparation" for the armco to be moved when tomorrows meeting is over.

Box was still there today but probably removed by the time I got home!!! The picture doesn't really show that the water tower has gone and they have created enough space to move the armco back about 10 feet.

As we had two in the dip today (one after each other - ouch!) I think this will certainly give more space - hopefully they'll think of how the marshals get down off the bank as currently it slopes!

Could the reason for moving the box, taking out the tree stump and generally tidying up the area be because a grandstand would look rather good there.

If the work is demanded by the MSA why is it being done mid season and not during the winter.

i heard from a good source today that they are cutting it back the box tree stump etc and taking out the area at the bottom of the dip on the right and the two trees at the top of on the right and making it like a pit lane run in area to make it safer and wider

Didn't think they'd be allowed to take the trees down - that would also make Deer Leap less exciting than it is now!

the reason for the barrier move at lodge is for a saftey reason but it is not for for the F3/GT meeting at all the reason is that it is the only place school single seaters get damaged so Mr Palmer has had it moved to reduce repair costs and as usual the marshals will just have to put up with it.
