I wanted one as soon as i heard the word turbo mentioned. It WILL be my next car. Give it 12 - 18 months so i can get an exec car out of ford for about 10 grand less than retail.

Mount,

I'm interested why the turbo thing is so important, why not just go the V8?

Colin,

Thanks for the comprehensive reply. I asked the Fleet Manager at work if they were getting some BA's soon. He said, no! Not if I can convince finance to buy more VY Commodores. This being on the fact the only BA's on Government contract are the LPG powered ones. And the ensuing poor rep of the AU.

But reading Colin's reply, evben if they are LPG, the BA sounds better value.

Moff, A few of reasons. Firstly i just like the idea of having a turbo XR6, i have never really been a V8 kinda person. Also th efuel consumption on the turbo is less when just driving around town. The turbo is also about 10 grand cheaper and unbelievably , less to insure. I will also enjoy blowing off a few people around here in there VT/VX ss comodores in a six cylinder.

A guy I've had some business dealings with has a brother who works in the Ford Aust design dept.
He says the BA is the best car they have ever made, from an engineering perspective.
Previously this was the XF Fairmot, apparently.

I had an XF Fairmont. A real man's car. Easy door handle replacement, easy front tyre replacement. Not so easy front clip replacement.

Drove an XT BA yesterday and I am very impressed, Ford has a winner on its hands. Very impressed with the steering and the brakes, but as I was in a 50k zone, unfortunately i couldn't keep the boot in.Its a big step up from a series 3AU, and if this the base model, things can only get better.

Funny guys. Here in the country they have a BA XR6 on the lot, a Fairmont Ghai and a base model XT. I'm not that convinced they're any better looking than the outgoing AU3.

Particularly the XR, I liked the rounded nose and the curved rear. And then there's the car's lines. The squared off BA is so like the new Commode!

It seems I need to drive one then... Not just look at one.
For as far as driving goes - I'm comparing VX2 to AU3.

Take it from a lifelong Holden owner and admirer who within 24hrs drove a BA XT, a VX SS & VY Berlina.........The BA was by far the better car in every area except power when compared to the SS but even then it was not by as much as you would think!

I still can't beleive that I am placing an order for a Ford (XR8 manual)
