AA has been having fun rabble rousing this week.
The Nissan blokes have said that the series needs to provide an opportunity to be market relevant, with cars and technology, to assure their participation & commitment.

AA makes it sound like an ultimatum.

Good point

Its easily arguable that had 888 run the Nissan program, that they would likely have a championship and a Bathurst in the kitty right now.

Stretching it a bit there? Considering Kelly boys are running 888 front ends in the car already.

Do you honestly believe that 888 could of done something with that engine that the Kelly's or Nismo couldn't?

No doubt Ludo probably could have done something aero wise but not enough to make up for the engine shortfalls

You hardly think RD wouldn't have sorted that mess a whole lot quicker.

They should have got a break on the rules that forced them to wait so long for new cylinder heads.

They made the Nissan announcement in 2012 and they have yet to race the proper engine.

Would 888 have taken 3 goes at aero homologation?

Would 888 have funded an intensive engine program at KRE to eke everything out of those powerplants?

Would 888 have employed some of the most successful drivers in the category ever?

Would 888 have used its multiple-championship-winning engineering group to design and build championship winning cars? As they did with Ford & Holden?

and so on..

Your thinking of FPR 2004, T8 had alot of front end upright failures in 2004, 2005 with SBR engines and their latest gen chassis they were straight into title contention.

If anyone has the potential to debut a new brand very close to the front I would expect it to be T8.

Maybe he is trying to deflect attention from the embarrassing Le Mans effort he was in charge of.

How much awareness do you have about the Nissan LMP1 project and I guess to that effect I think your expectations may have been a little high

A 911 has a back seat... Can we build a Gen2 SC based on a 991 RSR?

Technically it will be based on a regular 911, of which a minimum of 5000 units must be sold globally per year, so that restricts the real rare stuff. Also it will have to fit on the control chassis and have the engine in the front, so that will limit the options for manufacturers.

A minimum decibel level is interesting, though just noise isn't always good. It has to be good noise. If that makes any sense.

All in all, nothing hugely game changing, they still need to tell us how exactly they will get parity between a small turbo engine and a 5 litre NA V8.

Porsche sells around 30,000 911's per year apparantly... you could drop a current 911 RSR body design over the control chassis, place the 'right' engine for this model in the front (470bhp without any tuning bits attached!) and go SC racing...

The challenge I see is that the existing category compares (mostly) cars the average person can buy. A Falcon, Commodore, Altima... maybe a Volvo.. and the aspirational Benz...

How much fun might it be for a luxury brand to be in that category, to be beaten by the Falcon/Commodore/Altima....?

i cant really imagine that any of the brands that are predominately sports car makers would be interested.

This will be more about main brands showcasing a hero car of some sort, as it has always been
