The Tool Man should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
The Best Looking Bathurst Winning Car!!!

Which of the Winning cars of the Bathurst Races do you think is the best looking ???

My Vote has to be a tie between 1976 and 1986 and yes both are h h h holdens ( didn't think Id get that word out.) The Morris / Fitzpatrick Torana and the Bailey/ Grice Chikadee Commodore are the best looking the rest were just to plain looking.

Any car the won Bathurst would look good. I liked the Brock XU.1 from 72.

And as for CHAMPIONSHIP WINNING touring cars, I reckon the 1970 Norm Beechey Monaro and Alan Moffatts RX7 of 1982/ 83 ? were the two meanest looking Cars to have ever won the championship

TWR Jaguar XJS Coupes.... the cars were totally amazing.... not a patch on what we have now, but the detail that went into them in 1985 (and being effectively 1983 build) compared to the local Commodores was awesome

LP and Brock's 1984 dayglow orange Marlboro VK.

The last of the big bangers indeed!

I also liked Moffs '70,'71 & '73 cars.I really shouldn't admit this but I loved Jimmy & Brocky's '78,'79 & '80 Bathurst winner.....the best looking Holden by a country mile

I think I'm going with consensus here - those group c Commomdores (vc to vk) looked hot - big flares, big wings, fat tyres...nice. I used to like how they kept the interiors as standard as possible - massive fire hazard, but helped to preserve the link to the road cars.

To spread the kudos around, the green XE Falcon of Johnson was a TUF looking car (geddit!), although not within the scope of this thread.

Just seen pictures of the model, but I think the real thing is on display at Yatala (? or did I see it a historic race meeting? or was that the King George Tavern car... getting old... loosing mind...)

You gotta love those BIG gold BBS wheels, and the sheepskin seat covers for chrissake. Man that was one big sexy muther - looked fast just sitting there.

Interesting trivia : it didn't handle as well as the XD. John French reckoned it was nowhere near as nice to drive, despite being technically superior (moral of the story - the whole is not necesarily the sum of the parts).

Back to Bathurst cars - and to digress from the winners a bit further - I liked the 6 series JPS BMW - that was a hot lookin' machine - and with declaration of obvious bias, the group A Alfa Romeo GTV6's were just awesome looking cars.

I didn't mind the 'Marlboro Mild' livery on the '83 winning Commodore, the '84 car looked awesome as well.

Like GTR, i was a fan of the TWR Walkinshaw Jaguars from Bathurst 1985.

Here is the John Goss/Armin Hahne race winning XJS from the '85 JH 1000.

I know it didn't win right, but the best Bathurst car was Moffat's XB Coupe Brutt 33 "B52".

What a car.
