Joyce George should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Donington

A BIG Thank You to everyone at Donington this weekend, especially to those who found themselves doing jobs they didn't expect to. Also thanks to all those who gave up their lunchbreak to marshal the attempt to enter the Guiness book of records for the number of one make cars on track at the same time. Believe me, everyone's efforts were much appreciated!! I just hope the attempt succeeded.

Mini's Robin. The old record was 230+, but this afternoon they managed 286 on track at the same time.

Hi

According to the control radio on Saturday there were 271 cars on track while the previous record was 269 so beating the old record by 2!

Thats what I heard as I was circulating in between two solid lines of mini's attempting to get them to drive a little closer to each other so we could at least get time to answer the call of nature before racing began again...

Weather was great and there was some good racing to boot..

Thanks

May I also add my thanks to everyone who was there, especially to Joyce who must have run herself ragged in her role as Chief Marshal whilst I sat in the air conditioned car supping coffee which was kindly supplied by Melanie Smith. Hope everyone enjoyed the weekend as much as I did.

Great fun was had on posts 12 and 11 (respectivly) although I do appear to have something of a magnetic affect on oil spils at Donington Park!!

I had fun in my role as Dottie's trainee on start line duties! Lap charting is not easy when you have THAT many minis on the grid! And it was just as well we had the added advantage of a timing screen as in one of the races with pit stops, the winner (according to my charts) was the one at the back!

A good day in good company and some excellent racing to boot.

Was on post 23,cracking day of racing with some really good weather.
Even tho i gave up my lunch break for the mini challenge,it was quite enjoyable.
Standing in between 2 rows of mini`s,sending one side off to the loop.
But why do mini drivers doing 20 mph think they can scare you by pointing there car in your direction.
but nice to see some good looking mini`s out there.
thanks to the guys on post 23 for a good day.

Any news on the Mini (racing) Driver that was taken to hospital?
The other car was a serious mess, it's not often you see the engine come out of a saloon (Aston in Autosport excepted).

We were the unit that attended the incident and the doctor we had on board had heard nothing as of last night which he considered to be a good thing.
