They can do more than one thing at a time. If it were like you said, why would they be making a new M8 GTE? Audi seems committed to DTM or touring cars. So if the Super GT guys say 'join us and we'll join DTM' I think they may bite.

Could we see some balance of performance between DTM and Super GT for 2019 before they can thrash out common rules?

2017 Japanese Super GT

This is a golden opportunity for Lexus to enter DTM. They toyed with the idea in the past, and the planets are aligned. They are not tainted by the Dieselgate, they have the perfect car to appeal to the German premium market with the LC, and no doubt that Audi and BMW will be cool with whatever regulation adjustment they would ask for if this allows the DTM to continue. Plus they already have the car, tried and tested !

I see Nissan and Honda less of a match with the German market targeted by DTM.

I agree with that too. But the main reason of Mercedes leaving DTM is they refused to used the 2019 new regulation engine.

I think that the GT500 should go to GTE rules, and then be able to race Le Mans, WEC and IMSA. This is the real possibility of the Japanese sports cars to fight hand to hand with Ferrari, Porsche, Aston Martin, Corvette, BMW M8 and Ford GT
The GT500 are GT cars, but the DTM are tourist cars.
The solution of the DTM maybe is join forces with the WTCC that goes to new rules in 2019.

They won't be fast enough. GTE would barely be any faster than GT300. Super GT had/has the fastest GT's in the world. They want to keep it that way.

They can make a car with the GTE rules with much more power and less weight to be much faster than the GT300 and then adjust the parameters of power and weight when they go to Le Mans or IMSA.
Also GTE have free tyres rules something that was one of the conflicts with the DTM.

Precisely that is the point is very Japanese, which is excellent and very successful locally.
But what was the intention of negotiating with the DTM?
The answer is the evolution of the series and cars at the global level.
They already have 5, 6 or 7 years of negotiation with the DTM and nothing happens, and now Mercedes announces their retirement at the end of 2018.
If they really want growth at the global level the answer is GTE.
I see a lot of advantages in this point:
*Free tyres rules (something that was one of the conflicts with the DTM)
*The chance to go to Le Mans (Iconic race for the Japanese)
*The chance to race in IMSA (Very important market for the Japanese)
*The possibility of boost the power and lowering the weight for your local championship.

If I had to guess, Mugen gets one, and everyone gets what they've been wanting for over a year when ARTA gets the other.

2018 Super GT season is already published. 1-month gap between races except for between Round 2 - Round 3.

Suzuka is placed as 3rd race with 300km race distance.

I think if Mugen stepped down to GT300, then I think DOME Racing will replace Team Mugen in GT500 class as the rumor said.

But I think ARTA in GT300 class they mostly prefer Autobacs in-house development car or Autobacs related new car dealer business since 2003 until 2012 because 2013 they banned sports prototype car.

And I think they might continue to used M6 GT3 for next year due to the business relationship with Autobacs Seven which is main sponsorship since 2015.

And this link is the History of Autobacs Seven which is including they acquired all shares of Autoplatz K.K. which is Ikebukuro BMW in 2015 :
https://www.autobacs.co.jp/ja/company/enkaku.html

http://www.autobacs.co.jp/ja/ir/ar20...ut/topics.html

And with including the acquisition of BMW Tochigi branch dealership . Autobacs will strongly used the own business car dealership or their in house development car as the race car in GT300. Just like Lotus Evora for Car Tokai Dream with same dealership with Lotus Japan which is Kazuho Takahashi.

According to Autosports web:
It seem that Honda NSX GT3 will participate in SUPER GT in the next season.

@Japanese Samurai
Can you please translate this article as shown as below with the bold text???

日本のHRD(ホンダR&D)とアメリカのHPD(ホンダ・パフォーマンス・デベロップメント)がエンジンのチューニングを担当。

Most of them are copies of Honda's press release.

This NSX GT3 will be produced 12 cars in first year (2018).
Honda wants to supply at least total 70 cars till 2024.
M-Tec in charge of sales and customer service in Japan.

Kaoru Shimamura (Honda):
This car can run also in Japan.
So I hope that Japanese GT300 team will choose NSX.
We would like to supply the car not only Honda family team but also the team that wants NSX.

Several teams are already showing interest, but sales negotiations are planned for now.

Then about Team ARTA the main sponsorship is Autobacs Seven but they are not involved in the Honda business like Car Tokai Dream 28. Then why they said that it's Honda family team????

By they way , if ARTA M6 GT3 is sold , then which team want to buy their BMW M6 GT3????

Well speaking literally, M-Tec running the customer operations makes it extremely likely Mugen is racing one next year, because M-Tec is Mugen, and Mugen is literally a "Honda family" team.

But more broadly I assume it means that they aren't just going to supply cars to traditional Honda connected teams or dealerships, but that anyone can buy and race one.
