Mark Taylor to race in USGP support race

Panther Racing's Mark Taylor will take to the wheel of a Porche 911 at the USGP this weekend.

“I’m very excited about the chance to drive in the Porsche Supercup,” Taylor said. “For me, it’s a thrill to participate in another event at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, because I was so blown away by the history and tradition of the Indianapolis 500. Although we didn't finish as we would have liked, the entire month of May was a highlight of my young career.”

Excellent chance to promote the League Hope all goes well for him.

Full story.

Interesting. I suspect Mark is doing this to make sure Euroepan bosses haven't forgotten him, but guest drivers in the Supercup tend to have a notoriously bad time of it, so it might not help. If he does badly, people who belive that oval racing is for people who can't do 'real' sutff would have more ammunition for their misguided views.

I dont think he needs to remind people in Europe of his presence, he's gonna have a great career in the US. This will just be a bit of fun.

Not if you're Mika Hakkinen, of course!

Can't remember how he ran on Saturday, but he was "not Classified" yesterday....had an off about halfway through the race....

Note: there were decent drivers in that race...A. Zampedri, Patrick long (a GT class winner at Le Mans a week ago) David Saelens...

solid drivers indeed...
