We've a thread on this in Parc Ferme, but we'll leave this here for those without access.
Will this necessarily cost him his job? And if so, what colour will new Stig be dressed in? I vote lime green. |

Well it did for Perry. Lime green? British Racing Green surely?

Too obvious.
It did for Perry granted, but perhaps they won't take it quite so seriously this time around? I mean, does it really matter? |

They could do a double bluff. Back to black Stig but it's still Ben Collins.

Terrible shame. He's a friend of my brother in law and by all accounts is a very nice chap.
I hope The Beeb doesn't end his contract (even though I hear that the pay is crap) but no doubt he might make a few quid flogging his story to one of the tabloids provided he isn't tied to a contract forbidding same. |

Ive known this for a while but didnt want to ruin the guys gig.Last summer top gear where recording there stuntman bit at Rendlesham airfield near Ipswich,I was delivering a car to a company at the other side of the airfield and on the way back watched a bit of the action, the stig was there with helmet off and I recognised it as racer Ben Collins straight away,at first I thought why's he got the stig gear on..penny dropped then!! I hope they can keep Ben on cos he's great as the stig charactor and he's drivings not bad either!!

Actually the truth is that there are three Stigs and Ben Collins has been cutting back on doing it for a while as he has been moving onto new things.

There is a difference with the Perry McCarthy situation. Ben hasn't revealed it in his autobiography!
It is a little disapointing that someone you invite into your home by employing him to do work for you then sells what he sees to the papers. |

No I'm not. I know and realise that this sort of money grabbing invasion of privacy happens and can see why. That doesn't mean it isn't disappointing.

Ah! But was Ben moving on anyway? Will the new series of TG still require a "Stig"? Did Ben actually tell the builder just to broaden his CV? Theres an interesting photo of Stig with Hamilton up on E-Bay,and there is another that was posted on another thread, the only difference is the height of the Stig.

I did love the completely dead pan BBC response.
"We do not comment on speculation as to who or what The Stig is." |

I don't see why it matters who the Stig is, many people have known for a long time it's Ben Collins, Joe Public probably has no idea who he is anyway and for all they know, he really does have two sets of knees and sleeps upside down like a bat.

His name was in the Health and Safety report of Hammond's accident, so it's hardly new news. But, as with several of the above, I don't doubt The Stig
has always been played by more than one person at various times. Some we know about, some we don't. Does it really matter though? It's simply a pretence at giving all the cars an equal test - same track, same driver. The fact that even this wouldn't be enough to be fair doesn't matter; it's entertainment. |

Did anyone hear about Hammy,he is now on crutches following a horse riding accident,he'll be OK though.Oh,by the way,no jokes about Shetland ponies please. He was practicing for a horsey type thing when he fell off.As we all know, some shetlands can grow to about ten hands.
