Sorry for digging this thread up, but, I am going to be starting to collect BTCC, and other 1/43 models. I have my eye on an Onyx 1/43 Tommy Rustad D.C. Cook Renault Laguna. I was wondering, is this a good model to pick up?

I think so yes. I have a somewhat extensive list of BTCC models myself, many of which are models like the Laguna of Rutad, and i can certainly recomend them all to any would be collecter.

Here is a good website, that acts as an excellant guide to what models were made and with a bit of luck are available for collecters to buy...

http://www.angelfire.com/nb/dtcw/listings43/

Onyx are of a very good standard, not quite as good as the Minichamps models, but you will find that Minichamps tend to fetch a bit more cash than the Onyx models, however all of the BTCC models, whatever make, be it Onyx, Minichamps, Racing Replica's, or Spark were all limited editions of each car, usually around 2000 models (ish) made of each individual car.

Dragging this thread back up - for those that are interested there are quite a few BTCC diecasts on ebay at the moment (nothing to do with me by the way ) including several Racing Replicas Cavaliers - they don't come up often so I thought I'd mention it.

Oxford Diecast - BTCC Vectra

Has any got any models made by Oxford Diecast? Are they any good? They've recently released a BTCC Vectra:

http://www.oxforddiecast.co.uk/VECT0...ner%202007.htm

Currently they do the 2007 liveried Vectra (Giovanardi) and they're planning 2008 deliveries too.

It looks a litte basic, but if it's Minichamps priced, I'd pick it up if I collected BTCC cars.

Looks good, but its a 4dr version, rather than the real one being a 5dr shell.

The cage doesn't look great does it? They seem to be going for a tenner though so I guess that's par for the course.

They're fantastic PDS, are they all on their own seperate grid dioramas or is the same one?

I was considering a starting a touring car collection but to be quite honest i'm skint and also haven't yet finished getting Montoya's F1 cars. So theres no point in a new collection without finishing the old one

Maybe someday

Never stopped me I tend to collect on an "ooh I like that" basis - resulting in a collection of F1, DTM, WTCC, BTCC, WRC, Group B, GT, LMP and other random stuff (all in 1:43 though).

Trouble now is displaying the things - I'm a bit tight on space

I can't do that otherwise i'll buy the most random things.

In the summer i was like that and ended up spending quite a few quid in the modelzone in liverpool. I ended up paying 35 quid for a Audi 2007 LMP, 15 pound for an Escort WRC and bought three kits that eventually went in the bin because i've got no talent at all

I might start collecting some of the V8's though because they look fantastic

It is just the one grid diorama, really made for an F1 car, that's why it looks a bit big on some cars.

The V8 cars that are produced in Australia are far better than the models available from european based companies (yes I do include Minichamps!) especially when you turn the models over! Working steering, replica suspension front and rear, even an exhaust system! And all for £25 (and thats after the pound is worth nothing at the moment!) Some I paid around £17 for when the rate was better.

The older cars that Biante are producing. I buy direct from them. Fantastic models!

The Classic Carlectable models are not available direct so I pick those from the australian e-bay site. http://www.ebay.com.au/

The australian models are made in 1/64, 1/43 and their most popular size seems to be 1/18. Some 1/18 go for mega money especially if it a Peter Brock car.

i've got 2 stock cars left to get for montoya until next year and then i'm undoubtably starting a v8's collection. I love the detail fo those Biante models, they'd look fantastic on dioramas

I was in Modelzone in the Trafford Centre on Monday and noticed that they had a full set of 2008 VX Racing Vauxhall Vectra's.

I know it is not 1-43 but Scalextric have brought a Colin Turkington's 2007 Team RAC BMW, which you can not get for love nor money and I have hunted everywhere for one.

It's funny but as with 1:18 which is my preferred scale, there's a hell of a lot of potentially collectable cars and liveries that aren't even out yet!!!

There's plenty more Sierra RS500 liveries for Minichamps to bring out, BMW 635's, M3's etc. There aren't even any race Capri's, Volvo's, Rover's or Alfa GTV6's yet, all hugely popular cars in their day and any of which would make fantatstic aditions to any 1:43 or 1:18 collection!!!

Minichamps have just launched a road going GTV6, and I think a Rover Vitesse (Kurt Thim '86 DTM) has been delayed, both are in 1:43.

Also i've just mentioned it in the Group A Escort RS thread in History, but I've noticed Corgi/Vanguard have brought out a Longman Datapost RS1600i in 1:43. Nice effort too from what I've seen. It's about 15 quid I think.
